As the political turmoil continues across Maharashtra The Mumbai Police as well as the Thane Police on Saturday imposed Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in Mumbai city as well as in Thane district.
The prohibitory order, issued in the wake of increasing tensions between Maharashtra’s coalition and its coalition partner Shiv Sena and its internal rebel group, will be in effect until 7 July, on the outskirts of Mumbai city.In the early hours of the morning the police, in the Thane district, had imposed Section 144. The order will be in force until June 30, in the district, police stated, noting that any kind of protest, gathering, or any offensive sloganeering was outlawed.
The announcement also comes against the context of Shiv Sena workers reportedly vandalising the office of the rebel MLA of the party Tanaji Sawant in Katraj area of Pune.
