Nagpur: IN A GHASTLY mishap, four persons, including three young employees of Hexaware Technologies Ltd, were killed, and one other injured seriously after their speeding car collided head-on with a sand-laden truck coming from opposite direction on MIHAN flyover at Khapri on Wardha Road in the small hours of Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Piyush Tekade (25), a resident of House No A-44, Koradi Road, Neha Gajbhiye (25), a resident of Plot No 72, Wanjari Layout, Uppalwadi, Kamptee Road, Kajal Koche (27), a resident of Mahendra Nagar, Teka Naka, and car driver Balkrishna Uikey (34), a resident of Kachore Nagar, Chichbhuvan Slums. Injured Ashish Sarnayal (27), a resident of Chakradhar Nagar, Bokhara, Koradi Road, was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) by the police.
The tragedy occurred when Piyush, Neha, Kajal and Ashish were returning home in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car (MH-31/AT-2596) from company’s office at Dahegaon, Mihan, SEZ, Khapri, after their duty was over.
Driver Balkrishna Uikey was driving the car at a high speed. A rashly-driven sand laden-truck coming from opposite direction hit the car injuring driver Balkrishna, Piyush, Neha, Kajal and Ashish seriously. The trucker sped away fearing arrest.
Staff from Sonegaon Police Station led by WPSI Kursunge rushed to the spot. With the assistance of passers-by, cops rushed the injured to GMC & H where the doctors declared Piyush, Neha, Kajal and Balkrishna brought dead. A critically injured Ashish was admitted to Intensive Care Unit.
On the basis of the information given by Sachin Baban Sute (39), a resident of Shatabdi Chowk, Sonegaon Police registered a case under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 and 184 of Motor Vehicle Act, against the trucker. Cops are trying to trace the ‘killer’ truck and its driver on the basis of the CCTV footage.
