PM Modi Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Launch Bullet Train Project in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Japanese PM Shinzo Abe launched work on India’s first bullet train at Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Thursday this morning. The 508 km high-speed rail link to Mumbai is seen as a centrepiece of PM Modi’s efforts to demonstrate India’s capability to build high-tech projects. PM Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of the project which is expected to be completed by 2022 at an estimated cost of Rs 1.10 lakh crore.

Prime Minister Modi says
- Bullet train project will boost employment. If technology is used to empower the poor we can win the fight against poverty.
- With bullet train, one can reach Mumbai from Ahmedabad in just 2-3 hours.
- Our railway network is so huge that number of people travelling in trains every week in India is equal to Japan’s total population.
- Better connectivity will lead to progress.
- I was questioned when will India have bullet train? Now, when the project is being launched they are again questioning what is the need.
- Transport system is of prime importance for a nation’s development
