Nagpur : The heat wave for the past two days has impacted life in Nagpur as city roads wore a deserted look throughout the day on Friday. Nagpur recorded the highest maximum temperature of this summer with 45.2 degree Celsius on Friday.
A look at the public places like bus stand, railway station and even market places, is enough to reveal the impact of summer.
The ongoing cement road construction and metro work is increasing the temperature on city roads and it was a tough job for rickshaw-pullers and roadside vendors to earn their bread and butter under blistering heat.
The business had slowed down during the day time as people preferred to shop during evenings. However, for people such as traffic policemen and others, who cannot take out time from their duties, the scorch is wreaking havoc. With traffic signals at most of the chowks lying defunct, traffic officials are forced to stand in middle of the roads.
On Friday, once again, Akola was the hottest city in the country with 46.4 degree Celsius while Allahabad was the second hottest with 46.3 degree Celsius.
According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Severe heat wave conditionsvery likely to occur at isolated places over Akola, Chandrapur, Amravati, Nagpur, Yavatmal and Wardha districts of Vidarbha for next three days. Whole Vidarbha is facing severe heat wave condition from Friday and IMD advised local bodies to be prepared and take further action to handle such heatwave situation.
With western disturbances clearing up and no major weather system brewing up anywhere else in India, the condition is perfect for summers to take over the entire Indian mainland, stated Skymet Weather in a press release.
Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh of Central India are already experiencing heat wave conditions.This situation will prevail inthe region for next 2-3 days as there is not any weather system building up.
