1328 buildings in Nagpur are illegal – CM informed assembly

Leader of Opposition in Assembly Radhakrushna Vikhe Patil on Tuesday raised the issue of high number of illegal buildings in Nagpur.

The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, informed the House that Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has found as many as 1328 buildings illegal in city’s outskirts coming under Metro Region.

These buildings were found constructed without any necessary permission from concerned authorities in the past.

These 1328 unauthorised buildings include 115 industrial units, 75 educational institutes, 65 multi-storied buildings, 52 restaurants and 884 residential as well as other buildings.

Subsequently, the NMRDA has served notices to all these buildings under Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act (MRTP).

The owners of these illegal buildings have been given time limit till October 31, 2018 for compounding. Subsequently, NMRDA has received around 2,000 applications for regularization of buildings and plots following launch of a special scheme by the state government to regularize unauthorized structures and plots.

These applications are said to be apart from the 1,328 structures that were declared unauthorized, the Chief Minister said.
