Mahametro tested the elevated section of Nagpur Metro

MahaMetro has tested the elevated section of Nagpur Metro stretching from Airport South to Airport Metro using the Buland engine. The battery operated engine ran from Airport South to Airport Metro station to test the track strength and other parameters. This internal test was a success, declared the officials of MahaMetro.

Once the Airport Metro station is complete train service would start on Khapri to Airport Metro station, a distance of 6.5 kms, having four stations.

Modelled on urban architecture theme, the Airport Metro station is in final stages of construction. Primary structure of the elevated station is complete.

The design of station is being given a modern look to make it a tourist attraction and is about 500 metres from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport and located in middle of Wardha Road.

According to Maharashtra Metro note, the Airport Metro station is being erected on 22 piers spread over 2230 sq.mtrs and would have dimension of 81×26 metres (LxB). The Viaduct concourse is ready and station control room is nearing completion along with ticket counter, washrooms and other activity rooms.

The station is also going to have parking arrangements on ground floor plus facility for handicapped travellers, blind, and specially facility for women. Adjoining the station, Ancillary Building of Maharashtra Metro is also getting ready and the space would be commercial exploited.
