Nagpur: Axis Bank, India’s third largest private sector bank, today inaugurated its 117th branch in Nagpur region at Ravi Nagar. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, inaugurated the branch along with Shri Sanjay Silas, President & Head Branch Banking, Axis Bank. The branch will offer a comprehensive range of banking services like accounts (savings and current accounts), deposits, loans, locker facilities, etc. to its customers.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shri Sanjay Silas, President & Head – Branch Banking, Axis Bank, said, “We are very happy to expand our Bank’s network in Nagpur by inaugurating our 117th branch in Nagpur Region. The city has witnessed an increasing demand for banking services and products amongst the retail and institutional customers. To bridge the demand gap, we have increased our existing network to cater to the customers in the region and enhance their overall banking experience, backed by superior digital capabilities.”
Axis Bank has a long standing association with Nagpur with 117 branches & 471 ATMs in the Region. The Bank has helped set up digital payments infrastructure for educational institutions in the city. For Government Medical College, Nagpur, Axis Bank has set up a digital campus equipped with an e-lobby. It has also developed a digital fee collection and salary disbursements system via online portal and POS machines in the campus. The Bank has implemented an online fee collection system for Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University as well.
The gateway has benefitted over 6 lakh students. Recently, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has also started collecting fees online using the Bank’s solutions. Axis Bank has also been helping the State Tribal Department and the Social Welfare Department to seamlessly transfer the scholarship amount to over 11 lakh students in Nagpur region. The solution mitigates any third party involvement and thereby avoids any delay in disbursement.
In line with the national priority to eliminate open defecation from the country under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, the Bank has supported various initiatives towards an ODF-free India, such as in the greater Nagpur region, where the Bank has partnered with a nationally recognized NGO to design a communication strategy to take the message to the general public and specifically to school students.
Axis Bank’s CSR arm – Axis Bank Foundation (ABF), with its overarching theme of ‘Sustainable Livelihoods’, has partnered with Government of Maharashtra for their Village Social Transformation Mission aimed at transforming adverse conditions in 1,000 villages plagued by drought, low human development index and other social challenges. ABF will help in transforming them into ‘model villages’ and will implement its flagship financial inclusion and financial literacy programmes to introduce banking in these villages.
Axis Bank has total of 420 branches & 2247 ATMs in the state of Maharashtra.
