Nagpur: Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar’s daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule was injured when the police stopped the NCP’s halla bol protest march on the outskirts of Nagpur city on Monday.
The march, aimed at highlighting the government’s apathy towards the farmers, which began from Yavatmal district on December 1, reached Nagpur on Monday.
Ms. Sule, her cousin and former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, and other NCP leaders joined the protest march on the outskirts of Nagpur and blocked a road.
A minor scuffle ensued when some lady police constables tried to evict Ms. Sule and other NCP women workers from the road, resulting in an injury to Ms. Sule.
The police also arrested Ms. Sule, senior NCP leader Anil Deshmukh, and other NCP leaders.
All of them were released after some time.
Ms. Sule again joined the protest march after she was released along with the NCP’s Maharashtra unit president Sunil Tatkare and criticized the Devendra Fadnavis government for using the police against protesters.
