STATUS REPORT AS ON 06.12.2021 at 10am

One critically injured police jawan of Gadchiroli was brought transported in a Critical
Care ambulance by Gadchiroli police to Orange City Hospital & Research InstituteNagpur around 10.45 pm on 05.12.2021. As per given history, he had accidental firearm
injury on face and head on 05.12.2021 at around 6pm at Commando Training Centre,
Ketalli, Gadchiroli. He received primary first aid at Govt. Hospital Gadchiroli and was
shifted to OCHRI Nagpur. He was immediately attended by on duty CMO Dr. Ashima, On
Duty Hospital stationed Intensivist Dr. Hemant Waghmare and Dr. Darshan RewanwarPlastic, Microfacial & Microvascular Surgeon. He was attended by all other concerned
Specialists in CCU. His status is as follows:

1. Prashish Bandopant Channawar, Age 33 yrs/ Male
Alleged history of Firearm injury on face and head
 Firearm Entry wound at submental triangle of neck of 3×1 cm & 2.5x 3cm with
muscle tear. The track of firearm injury then traverses and fracture Left
parasymphysial part of mandible, floor of mouth, left half of tongue, palate, left
maxillary sinus, left nasal bone left orbit and exit wound on forehead just above
the medial half of brow.
 Bleeding, edema face

Provisional Diagnosis: Alleged history of Firearm Injury on face with multiple facial
fractures with Left eye injury with Head Injury.

In view of Covid-19 pandemic and urgent need of surgical intervention, rather than
waiting for Covid-19 RTPCR test; he was taken for emergency surgical management in
night itself with pre-op Rapid Antigen test for Covid-19. He underwent Tracheostomy,
Enucleation of Lt. eyeball, Frontal craniotomy with Duroplasty with fixation, closure of
Lt. Frontal orbital defect, tongue & palate reconstruction, Lt. Upper & lower eyelid
reconstruction and closure of entry & exit wound by Dr. Darshan Rewanwar, Dr. Palak
Jaiswal, Dr. Abhay Agashe and Dr. Siddharth Saoji while Dr. Neeta Deshpande provided
the necessary anesthesia. Surgery lasted for 8 hrs.

At present, he is on ventilator support with other allied treatment protocol. Once his
general condition improves and facial swelling decreases, He will further require needful
multiple surgeries for maxillofacial fractures and reconstruction.

He is undergoing comprehensive treatment under the care of Dr. Darshan RewanwarPlastic Surgeon, Dr. Palak Jaiswal- Neurosurgeon, Dr. Abhay AgasheOphthalmologist, Dr. Siddhart Saoji- ENT Surgeon, Dr. Rajesh Atal- Critical Care Physician, Dr. Nishikant Lokhande, Dr. Manish Agarwal & Dr. Saurabh JaiswalRadiologists, Dr. Milind Pande- Pathologist. Dr. Smita Harkare, Dr. Neeta
Deshpande, Dr. Anita Pande – TEAM ANESTHESIA and Dr. Ninad Gawande- Medicolegal Consultant. 24×7 stationed specialist Intensivist Cover being provided by
dedicated team of Dr. Mohit Gharpure, Dr. Akshay Burlawar, Dr. Suchita Naik and
Dr. Rajashree Kapkar who are leading team of clinical assistants Dr. Aves Hasan, Dr.
Kushal Narnawre, Dr.Nilesh Pidhekar and Dr. Akash Jaiswal.
