State Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for the construction of the safety wall along 710 km long Mumbai-Nagpur super communication expressway. The decision was taken to avoid road accidents and to protect the proposed petroleum pipeline along the corridor.
Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar informed media persons after the Cabinet meeting that the safety wall would help in curbing the road accidents that claim 3500 lives daily. The wall on both the sides of the 710-km corridor would be of more than 1400 kms. The construction of the super-communication express way would begin in next two months. The progress of the corridor will be monitored on weekly basis during the Cabinet meetings, informed Mungantiwar.
PWD officials informed that another reason for building the wall all along the express way was to protect proposed petrol pipeline as promised by Union Minister for petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan. Mungantiwar informed that the Cabinet also gave nod for building the express way by using cement.
