Nagpur : A special voters’ registration campaign is going to be held on March 2-3 in order to give a special opportunity to the citizens who did not register their names as voters in the revision voters registration campaign for the upcoming general Lok Sabha elections.
On January 1, 2019, the final list of voters had been published but those citizens whose name did not figure in the final voters list, were given an opportunity on February 23 and 24 and a special campaign was implemented across State. Yet, there are many citizens who have failed to register their names in the voters list. They are now being provided one more special opportunity on coming Saturday and Sunday when a campaign will be implemented state wide during these two days.’
The Booth Level Officer (BLO’s) will be accepting the applications for registration in voters list from the citizens. They will have form number 6, 7, 8 and 8 A. The BLO will also have copies of the final list of voters declared on January 1. For those voters, who are illiterate, the list of voters will be read in the villages. All the district magistrates, district Election Officer, all Residency Welfare Associations (RWA) and Gram Sabha have been instructed to participate in this programme.’
All the political parties have been informed about the programme and they are asked to depute their booth level assistants. The political parties are also being asked to help the election officers for making the electoral list more accurate and complete. According to the directions of Election Commission of India, a toll free number “1950” is also made available for the citizens. They can contact on this number and seek more information about the registration in voters list. The Chief Election Office has appealed the people to take a note of this special drive and create awareness about it.
