Science Technology Open Doors to Enhancement of Environment and Quality Life

Understanding Ecosystem for Health“, was the theme of Children’s Science Congress during the 108th ISC held at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University on 04 January at 10.00 am at the Main Dome. The objective of National Children’s Science Congress programme is to exhibit creativity and innovativeness, more particularly to solve societal problems.

The inauguration programme saw the release of the Abstract Book of Children’s Science Congress at the hands of Dr. Subhash R.  Chaudhari, Vice Chancellor, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Chief Guest Dr. Satish Wate, Former Director, CSIR NEERI, Nagpur and Former Chairman, Recruitment and Assessment Board (RAB), CSIR, New Delhi. Also present was Dr.Vijay Laxmi Saxena, General President, ISCA , Dr.Manoranjan Mohanty, Head, NCSTC, Govt of India, Dr. R.  Ramamurthy, Ex General President, ISCAand Dr. Nishikant Raut, Convener, National Adolescent Science Conference.

Dr. Subhash R.  Chaudhary, in his speech emphasized “what we read by itself is not complete education, it is very important to adopt research culture to complete that education and it is equally important to inculcate the temperament of researchin children”. He added that if the children are shown the scientific direction, then they can easily solve even the biggest of problems.

In this direction, Dr. Satish Wate too commented that it was essential that children are encouraged to participate in science exhibitions which would pave a path to them being selected in big events like Vigyan Bharati. He quoted: “You Learn, You Perform, You Exhibit”. Besides, he also spoke about ‘Self-Reliant India’ in relation to the aspects like the Covid Vaccine success in India, Defence, Agriculture and Space missions. He urged the children to draw inspiration from the former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Dr. Vijay Laxmi Saxena the next speaker quoted Ravindranath Tagore – “The highest education is that does not merely gives us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence”. She said – “ISC is committed to spreading the concept of SustainabileDevelopment of Research, Production and Environment. She also spoke on science & technology being important pillars for the sustainable growth of our country.

The ‘Vote of Thanks’ was delivered by Dr. S. Rama Krishna, General Secretary ISA. He also expressed his gratitude to all the students and the guests. The program was conducted by Ankita Moon.
