Robotics Workshop
Ever felt fascinated by Robots? Here’s a great opportunity to learn about robotics and make one for yourself. Join us on weekend 14th and 15th October 2017 for an exclusive two-day, experiential, hands-on workshop on Robotics!! We’ll be covering all the basics as well as providing DIY kit to build different kinds of robots including software and theory material.
WHAT: Robotics 101 Hands-on Workshop
WHEN: Saturday, Sunday 14th and 15th October 2017
TIME: 9:30am – 6:00pm
WHERE: Seminar Hall, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur.
COST: INR 3000/- per team (3 students)

AGENDA:
DAY 1:
9.30 – 10.30: Welcome Program
10.30 – 11.00: Introduction to Robotics for absolute beginners
11.00 – 11.20: Development platforms available in the market to start in robotics.
11.20 – 11.40: Distribution of DIY kit, software and theory booklet.
11.40 – 13.00: Introduction to Arduino, how to install Arduino IDE and understanding the User Interface.
13.00 – 14.00: Lunch Break (provided by us)
14.00 – 16.15: Learn to use Arduino. LED interfacing, making different LED patterns, Switch interfacing, understanding
to use motor driver IC L293D to run a motor with personalized instructions from expert volunteers.
16.15 – 16.45: BREAK (Snacks and Tea)
16.45 – 18.00: Design aspects of Robot
–> Each team will assemble the DIY kit and try to program the bot for different motions.
–> Different tasks would be given, and points would be collected based on time of completion and efficiency of the
program.
DAY 2:
10.00 – 10.30: Quick Recapitulation
10.30 – 11.00: Introduction to Sensors and its types.
11.00 – 11.20: Understanding IR sensor in detail and its calibration.
11.20 – 11.45: Interfacing IR sensor to Arduino.
11.45 – 12.00: Understanding a Line follower robot.
12.00 – 13.00: Programming a Line follower robot.
13.00 – 14.00: Lunch Break (provided by us)
14.00 – 16.15: Understanding and programming an Edge avoiding robot.
16.15 – 16.45: BREAK (Snacks and Tea)
16.45 – 17.15: Understanding and programming a wall following robot.
17.30 – 18.00: Closing ceremony.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
+ Please ensure you bring your laptop and charger!
+ If you are working on any project on Arduino, you can bring it here to discuss with us, as well as a notebook to jot
down important key points during the workshop!

robot.
+ You will actually have practical DIY experience to BUILD DIFFERENT ROBOTS BY YOURSELF during the course of

your ideas to reality!!
NOTES:
– Each team MUST bring one laptop and charger to successfully participate in this workshop!
– There are no pre-requisites for this workshop, anybody of any background is welcome to attend, provided they bring
their own laptop/machine.
– If you are a minor of 15 years or younger, you must be accompanied by an adult who should also register for the
workshop.
