‘Ram Jhula’ Phase-II to be inaugurated on January 19

Nagpur : Apparently with an eye on the ensuing election of Lok Sabha slated next year, Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has directed all the developmental agencies to complete pending development work in city at the earliest, with proper planning and within stipulated time.

Gadkari also directed administration to start preparation to perform bhoomipujan of ambitious Orange City Street and to dedicate second phase of Ram Jhula on January 19.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also will be present at both the functions. Addressing a meeting of institutional heads at Vanamati meeting hall on Monday, Gadkari said, “It is necessary to meet all the demands of citizens to provide basic amenities including better cement roads, flyovers and Nagpur Metro. All the institutions should complete their work with more sincerity and honesty.” Taking review of widening of road works including road stretches from Sunil Hotel to Mayo Hospital, Kelibag road, Railway Station to Jaistambh Square and Manas Square, Gadkari said, Central Governmenthas sanctionedRs 234 crore for widening of Railway Station road.

Nagpur Maha Metro will complete the construction work. TheUnionMinisteralsosaid, NHAI should also give a momentum to construction of flyover and road between Bhandara road to Pardi flyover. Referring to recent agreement between NMC and Maha Metro about construction of Metro Mall,the Union Minister hoped that Maha Metro will start construction work on 3,308 sq mt land at the earliest.

Further,Gadkari said,Railway should ensure its third and fourth railway track while giving land titles toslum-dwellers. He said, NMC should start distribution of land titles of 15 slumsoverits land and also distribute land titles to slums dwellers situated over Nazul land. Referring to pending works of cement roads, he issued an ultimatum to authorities and executing agencies to complete cement construction work of Ring Road by March 31.

Taking reviewo fun developed layouts in the city, Gadkari directed NMC to take possession of all the layouts immediately and provide basic amenities like water, road and other things. NMC should resolve all the complaints of the citizens. Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Sudhakar Kohle, Krishna Khopde, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Standing Committee Chairman Virendra Kukreja, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Maha Metro MD Dr Brijesh Dixit, Divisional Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Kumar, District Collector Ashwin Mudgal, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, Central Railway DRM SSUppal, PWD Chief Engineer Ulhas Debadwar and Smart City CEO Dr Ramnath Sonwane were present.

Senior officers of Nagpur Municipal Corporation(NMC), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), Maha Metro, Public Works Department, and National Highway Authority of India(NHAI)also were present. Maha Metro to demolish railway station flyover MAHA Metro will demolishthe flyover in front of Railway Station flyover. First, it will demolish approaches of both the sides and leaving the shops untouched at this stage. Later, Maha Metro will construct a commercial complex over the land of MP Bus Stand to shift these shopkeepers.Thework is likely to start in New Year.

Town Planning Department Nitin Gadkari also blasted Town Planning Department of NMC for its abysmal failure in sanctioning building plans.The building plans of Nagpur Metro, several construction schemes are pending for last six months. He said, Municipal Commissioner should initiate action of suspension against negligent officerfordereliction in duty. Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, Town Planning Department did not clear the proposal of Distric.
