Senior Party Leader Mr. Mullappally Ramchandran declared Rahul Gandhi as President of “Indian National Congress” on Monday, as Sonia Gandhi announced her retirement from the party. He will be elevated as President on 16 December.
Mr. Gandhi was elected as Vice-President of Congress party in January 2013.
He was on weak spot in 2014 , but now possessing good leadership quality, and sense of responsibility. The 47 year old leader will now take over the reins of Congress from his mother and current President of Congress after 19 years of her leadership.
Public had many expectations from him much before he was elected as future President of Congress.
The farewell ceremony of Sonia Gandhi will take place on Saturday which will also have the farewell speech of Sonia Gandhi regarding her 19 years of Presidentship.
