The All-India Women’s Selection Committee has picked the India A team for the one-day series against Australia A in Mumbai. Punam Raut, who featured in the series against England for the senior women’s team will lead the India A women’s team this time around. It will be a three-match ODI home series against Australia A which will be played in BKC, Mumbai from October 15 to 19. This is the first official women’s Australia A tour to India.
The India A squad includes several ODI regulars who did not get the nod for the upcoming World T20 to be held in West Indies in November. The 15-member Indian T20 squad for the WC didn’t include senior pacer Shikha Pandey, ODI opener Raut, and wicket-keeper Sushma Verma.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia have named a strong squad for the upcoming series in India. It contained the names of capped players like Lauren Cheatle, Molly Strano, Tahlia McGrath, Belinda Vakarewa, and Amanda-Jade Wellington. The rest of the squad contained players from the Women’s Big Bash League.
