Printing press owner’s murder, a case of contract killing

NAGPUR : The sensational murder of printing press owner Sanjay Dhanraj Chavan turned out to be a case of contract killing with Hudkeshwar Police arresting four persons, including a police constable, wife of the deceased wife and her paramour, for their direct involvement in the homicide.

The accused have been identified as Police Constable Prakash Chandrashekhar Jawade (26), a resident of Plot No. 8, Chandra Nagar, Juni Pardi, Bhandara Road; Sneha Sanjay Chauhan (27), Yogesh Purshottam Gahane (27), both residents of Ganesh Apartment, Plot No. 104, A-Wing, Sanjuba High School Road, Dighori, and Aakash alias Bittu Omprakash Somkuwar (28), a resident of Plot No. 486, Kushi Nagar, Jaripatka.

Sneha, wife of Sanjay Chavan (36) and mother of Aniruddha (5), had extramarital affair with Yogesh who also stays in her flat scheme. Sneha wanted to divorce her husband but she knew that he would not leave her. Sneha and Yogesh then hatched a planned to eliminate Sanjay. As Yogesh knew Constable Prakash Jawade personally, he contacted him and allegedly expressed willingness to give ‘Supari’ of Rs three lakh to a goon for killing Sanjay. Constable Prakash, who is attached to Nagpur (Rural) Police, roped dreaded goon Aakash alias Bittu in to the conspiracy.

The accused quartet then executed their plan by killing Sanjay with a sharp and heavy object on Tuesday night. They then dumped the body in a nullah near a Dhaba on outer Ring Road in Hudkeshwar.Possibility of involvement of some more persons in the murder case cannot be ruled out.

The arrests were made by Assistant Police Inspectors Vijay Naik, Satyawan Kadam, Police Sub-Inspector Shubhangi Mohare and constabulary staff under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Raj Tilak Roushan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ajni Division)S L Shinde and Senior Police Inspector (Hudkeshwar) Sandeep Bhosle.
