Nagpur: The Nagpur Metro will very soon start rolling on its elevated tracks, thus placing Maharashtra’s second capital in the prestigious club presently occupied by Mumbai and other metropolitan cities.
The wait of Nagpurians for using the Metro as another means means of transportation is set to be over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to launch the commercial operation of Nagpur Metro this week on March 7, at 5 pm through video conferencing from New Delhi.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari will be in city to flag-off the train. Fadnavis and Gadkari will attend several programmes of bhoomipujans and inaugurations on March 6. Nagpur Metro has completed the work on a stretch of 19 kms from Khapri to Sitabuldi and Lokmanya Nagar to Subhash Nagar.
Nagpur will become the tenth city in India to have a Metro and the second in state.
