On January 14, the Ayyappa Temple will host the Makaravilakku festival

On January 14, a Makaravilakku festival will be held at the Shree Harihara Dharmasastha Temple in Harihar Nagar, Besa, to commemorate “Makar Sankranti” Day.

The Harihara Dharmasastha Temple team will perform a ‘bhajan’ at 9.30 am, followed by ‘Neyabhishekam’ and ‘Usha Pooja’ at 6.30 am, ‘Maha Ganapath Homam’ at noon, and ‘Sasthapreethi’ (food distribution) at 12.30 pm.

The Makaravilakku will be lit at 6:15 pm. Fireworks, “Chendamelam,” and “Deeparadhana” will come after. ‘Genamela’ (‘Utsava Raavu’) by Shruthilaya, Nagpur is presented at 7:00 pm. At 9:00 pm, “Athazha Pooja” and “Mahaprasadam” distribution will take place.

According to a press release issued by R.R. Pillai, President, and Santhosh Nair, General Secretary, the managing Committee of the temple has urged all devotees to attend all pooja and programmes and seek the blessing of Lord Ayyappa and other deities on the auspicious day of “Makar Vilakku.”
