HMD Global, a Nokia brand licensee, has launched their latest midrange smartphone, the Nokia 3.1 Plus, today, in India.
Nokia 3.1 Plus Specifications
BUILD & DISPLAY
The 3.1 Plus boasts of a large 6-inch 720p IPS panel without a notch. The absence of the notch gives the phone an aspect ratio of 18:9. The 2.5D glass on the front smoothly transitions into the polycarbonate body of the phone which will be available in colours of Black, Blue & White. The phone features a fingerprint scanner at the centre-back of the phone.
PERFORMANCE & STORAGE
The phone is powered by a Helio P22 octa-core processor that uses four-efficient cores for basic tasks but can switch to all eight for more intensive tasks. The P22 is coupled with either 2 or 3GB of RAM depending on which storage variant you decide to take. The 3.1 Plus will be made available in 16GB and 32GB variants which can further be expanded via a microSD card slot with support up to 400GB.
CAMERAS
In the optics department, the back of the phone houses a dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel f/2.0 primary sensor and a 5-megapixel f/2.4 secondary sensor that captures additional depth information for Portrait Mode. A single LED flash also makes an appearance at the back for low-light scenes. The front of the phone flanks an 8-megapixel f/2.2 sensor for all your selfie needs.
BATTERY & PORT
The phone houses a meaty 3,500mAh battery that Nokia claims will last for a couple of days. Sadly, the power delivery will take place via a microUSB 2.0 port. To support fast charging, the phone will come with a fast charger in the box (Take cues Apple!). Due to the absence of a USB Type-C port, the phone retains a 3.5mm jack for all your audio needs.
SOFTWARE
Nokia 3.1 Plus is an Android One phone that runs on Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box and is guaranteed to receive monthly security updates and OS updates for 3 & 2 years respectively. The presence of Android One ensures that the phone is free of bloatware out of the box.
CONNECTIVITY
Connectivity options include VoLTE, VoWiFi, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/AGPS+GLONASS+BDS+Galileo. The phone houses a combo SIM slot which means that you can either use a nano SIM and a microSD card or two nano SIMs at once.
PRICING & AVAILABILITY
The Nokia 3.1 Plus will be available in two variants. The base variant has 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, whereas the other variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Nokia only announced a starting price of Rs 11,499, which we assume is for the 2GB variant.
The Nokia 3.1 Plus will be exclusive to Nokia’s online store and brick-and-mortar retail outlets, and it will go on sale stating October 19.
