Nagpur : The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Tuesday demolished 11 illegal religious structures in mouza Chikhli (khurd), South Nagpur. The drive will continue in South Nagpur for next few days. superintending engineer SS Gujjelwar, the NIT team demolished Shiv Nag mandir at Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Hanuman Mandir at Shivshakti Housing Co-operative Society, Puratan Hanuman Mandir at Annapurna Housing Society, Jai Mata and Nag mandir at Niwas Housing Society, Nag and Shivling Mandir at Gurukripa Housing Society, Hanuman mandir at Shri Samarth Gajanan Gruh Nirman Sansthan, Ganpati and Nagoba mandir at Balabhaupeth, Nag mandir at Suvarna Housing Society and Nag mandir at Nagrik Suvichar Housing Society.
NIT in a press release said citizens removed idols from the temples before demolition of the structures.The demolition drive was carried out by head of department Manohar Patil, executive engineer (South) SN Chimurkar, divisional officer (South) Avinash Badge, engineers Sandip Raut, Yashodhara Manik, Ravi Ramteke, Vinod Khulge.
