NIT demolishes 11 illegal religious structures in East Nagpur

Nagpur : The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Wednesday demolished 11 illegal religious structures in East Nagpur.

As per an order of the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, the NIT and NMC are demolishing illegal religious structures on roads, footpaths and government-owned lands. While the NIT has continued with the drive, there has been no action by the Nagpur Municipal Corpoartion (NMC) since last few days.

A team comprising NIT executive engineer Sanjay Chimurkar, divisional officer Bharat Mundle, junior engineer Dipak Dakhate, CD Kangane, head of enforcement department Manohar Patil, with the help of Nandavan police, demolished Durga temple, Santoshi Mata temple, Annapurna temple, two Nagoba temples, two Hanuman temples, Nageshwar temple, Ganpati mandir, Panchsheel Dwaj-Buddha Vihar and a Durga temple, all at Wathoda.
