Nagpur : Nagpur District Hard-court Tennis Association (NDHTA) is organising MSLTA-Yonex Sunrise All-India Ranking Super Series Tennis Tournament for Under-16 boys and girls from February 4 to 8 at Ram Nagar court.
Addressing media persons NDHTA Treasurer Vijay Naidu and Secretary Sudhir Bhiwapurkar said the tournament will begin with qualifying round followed by the main draw. Signing for the qualifying round will held on February 1 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and for the main draw on February 3 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Qualifying round will be played on February 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The players from Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Chandigarh and from Nagpur are participating in the tournament. Eight players from both boys and girls categories will qualify for the main draw of 32 players.
Chirag Duhan from Haryana has been given top billing in the boy section. Heerak Vora (Gujarat) and Arjun Gohad (Maharashtra) are second and third ranked players. Similarly in the girls section Nagpur’s Sai Bhoyar has been given top billing followed by Radhika Mahajan (Maharashtra) and Ishita Jadhav (Maharashtra).
Avanee Gosavi will be the tournament supervisor. Dr Sudhir Bhiwapurkar is the tournament director whereas Vijay Naidu is the tournament secretary. The entry fee for the tournament is Rs 700 for singles and Rs 900 for doubles.
Daily allowance of Rs. 600 will be paid to the players as per AITA norms. The winners and runners-up will get the trophies. Vikram Naidu was prominently present at the press conference.
