Nagpur’s Para Swimmer Kanchanmala Pande to get national award

NAGPUR : Kanchanmala Pande, a visually impaired international swimmer of Orange City, is going to receive prestigious National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities at Plenary Main Hall, Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on December 3.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities/Divyangjan declared this award for 2018 to Kanchanmal as a ‘best sportsperson with disability in female section’ for her outstanding performance at the national and international level swimming competitions.

Kanchanmala, who hails from Amravati, represented Maharashtra several times at the national level both in able as well as disable category. So far, she had competed in 8 countries for several events including World Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
