SRINAGAR: The most wanted Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Abu Ismail and the main accused in Amarnath Yatra attack which took place earlier this year was killed along with his associate Chota Qasim on Thursday afternoon in Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
While addressing a press conference, Muneer Khan, IGP Kashmir said,” In a very brief encounter both the terrorists were killed. Around two AK 47s were recovered.” The encounter was possible due to the joint collaboration with CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Rashtriya Rifles.

The team India Squads for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested. The team’s performance during the Sri Lanka tour was outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed very well are being given an extended run and this will in turn supplement our approach, to build a strong reserve strength, as we prepare for forthcoming tours,” said MSK Prasad, Chairman of the selection committee, as per the press release.
Australia ODI squad: Steve Smith, David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Patrick Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa
Just three days to go before the highly anticipated India vs Australia ODI series begins in Chennai and as far as giving a highly valuable advice to the visitors is concerned, former Aussie speedster has warned his countrymen against sledging Virat Kohli.
The Indian skipper, known for his aggressive attitude on field, has had many tussles with the Kangaroos in the past, quite a few of which have ended in the Indian star’s favour (especially at home).
More significantly, the former Australia pacer also warned Steve Smith’s men to leave Kohli alone and not get into verbal battles with arguably the best limited-overs batsman in modern cricket.
Gillespie, one of Australia’s pack during their heydays, is now the coach of Papua New Guinea and feels the Aussies would do well not rile up Kohli, who thrives in pressure situations.
“Kohli is an amazing player. Once the field spreads, he can bat safely. I don’t think Australia need to get into a verbal battle or get into staring competitions with Kohli,” Gillespie told the Times of India. “The best way to put him under pressure is through disciplined bowling. I would like to see the Aussie quicks bowl bouncers throat-high to get him on the back foot, make him thinking about it.
“I would like to see the Aussie quicks bowl bouncers throat-high to get him on the back foot, make him thinking about it. The follow-up ball remains the key. Make him come forward inviting the drive. If there is movement off the wicket or in the air, then the edge comes into play. Maybe they can bowl on the stumps with two catchers on the on-side. It’s about getting him out of his comfort zone,” said Gillespie.
However, the Indian captain is in his elements again and is currently the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year.

Fifty-six years after the foundation stone for the Sardar Sarovar Dam was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Narmada district’s Kevadia, the dam, one of India’s biggest, will be finally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, which is also his birthday, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said.
The Narmada Control Authority had ordered the gates of the Sardar Sarovar Project be shut on June 16. The gates of the dam were closed the following day.
After closure of the gates the height of the dam was increased to 138 metres, with storage capacity raised to 4.73 million cubic metres (MCM) from the existing 1.27 million cubic metres. Earlier, the height of the dam was 121.92 metres.
He also said that with the inauguration of the project, over 18 lakh hectares of land in the state would be benefitted with irrigation as Narmada water will flow to over 9,000 villages of Gujarat through a canal network.
Each gate weighs over 450 tonnes and it takes one hour to close them, the official said.
Explaining the characteristics of the Sardar Sarovar project, the official said that it is the biggest dam in terms of volume of concrete used in it.
“It is the second biggest dam in the world after the Grand Coulee Dam in the United States,” he said.
The official said the 1.2-km-long dam which is 163 metres deep has till date produced 4,141 crore units of electricity from its two power houses — river bed powerhouse and canal head powerhouse — with an installed capacity of 1,200 MW and 250 MW, respectively.
“The dam has earned over Rs. 16,000 crore — more than double the cost of its construction,” he said.
According to the SSP official, the power generated from the dam would be shared among three states — Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Fifty-seven percent of the electricity produced from the dam goes to Maharashtra, while Madhya Pradesh gets 27 per cent and 16 per cent goes to Gujarat.
According to the SSP officials, it will irrigate 2,46,000 hectares of land in the strategically important desert districts of Barmer and Jalore in Rajasthan, and 37,500 hectares in the tribal hilly tract of Maharashtra. A special allocation of 0.86 million cubic feet (MAF) of water has been made to provide drinking water to 131 urban centres and 9,633 villages, which is 53 per cent of the total 18,144 villages of Gujarat.
Nagpur: The Maharashtra government is likely to push for a Mumbai-Nagpur bullet train service to create an exclusive high-speed corridor for Maharashtra. The state government will discuss the project with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAICA). The government is keen that JAICA provides the funds for the Mumbai-Nagpur bullet train on the same term and conditions as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad project.
Highly placed sources in the government said Maharashtra would also explore projects that would provide greater advantage to the state. “The Mumbai-Nagpur bullet train can come along the 706-km Samruddhi Corridor, which would give boost to economic activities and agriculture in Maharashtra,” said an official.
Samruddhi Corridor: The ambitious, Rs 46,000 crore Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Corridor is expected to tackle migration from rural to urban areas within Maharashtra. Of the total migration in Maharashtra, almost 50 per cent of the people flow from rural to urban cities with Mumbai as epicentre. The project report states, “The developmental model adopted in 24 townships along the 710 km eight lane stretch across ten districts of Maharashtra will help in drastically reducing migration.”
The document details the major impetus on agro-based industries in 24 townships (nodes) planned according to geographical and local requirements, which would yield employment opportunities in rural Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described the project as a game changer which would take Maharashtra 20 years ahead of other states. Fadnavis believes the state with 45 to 50 per cent urbanisation has to cope with growing burden on infrastructure and basic amenities.
Donald Trump identifies India among major drug producing
US President Donald Trump has identified India along with 21 other countries as among the major illicit drug producing or transit nations. In addition to India, other south Asian countries identified as major drug transit or major illicit drug producing countries are Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“A country’s presence on the foregoing list is not necessarily a reflection of its government’s counter narcotics efforts or level of cooperation with the US,” Trump said.
The reason major drug transit or illicit drug producing countries are placed on the list is the combination of geographic, commercial, and economic factors that allow drugs to transit or be produced, even if a government has carried out the most assiduous narcotics control law enforcement measures, he said.
Simultaneously, Trump designated Bolivia and Venezuela as countries that have failed demonstrably during the previous 12 months to adhere to their obligations under international counter narcotics agreements.
“In addition, the US government seriously considered designating Colombia as a country that has failed demonstrably to adhere to its obligations under international counter narcotics agreements due to the extraordinary growth of coca cultivation and cocaine production over the past 3 years, including record cultivation during the last 12 months,” he said.
Ultimately, Colombia is not designated because the Colombian National Police and Armed Forces are close law enforcement and security partners of the US in the Western Hemisphere, they are improving interdiction efforts, and have restarted some eradication that they had significantly curtailed beginning in 2013, Trump said.

Nagpur: Apple iPhone X price in India – Apple enthusiasts in India will be able to buy the latest iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, at a price starting from Rs64,000 within days of availability of the smartphones in the US and other markets. Apple’s new lineup, announced late last night in the US, will compete with flagship devices from the stables of Samsung, LG and other players in India.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available in 64GB and 256GB variants, priced at Rs64,000. These will be available at Apple authorised resellers from 29 September, Apple India said in a statement.
The iPhone X, which is being launched to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the first iPhone, includes features like face recognition and super retina display. To be available from 3 November in 64GB and 256GB variants, the Apple iPhone X price in India will be priced Rs 89,000 onwards.
The Mac and iPad maker has sold over 1.2 billion iPhones till date. Apple—the world’s second largest handset maker—is bullish and optimistic about India, a key growth market where it is bringing all of its “energies” to expand footprint. During the company’s earnings call last month, CEO Tim Cook had said Apple is investing in India. It has set up an app accelerator centre in India and is working with channel partners and expanding its go-to-market roadmap in the country. It has also started producing the iPhone SE in India during the June quarter.
According to Counterpoint Research, Apple had a 2.3% market share (in volume terms), ranking at the 11th spot in the hyper-competitive Indian smartphone market. Its global rival, Samsung ranked numero uno in India with 24% share. However, in value terms, Apple was at the fifth spot with 10% share of the Indian smartphone market in the June 2017 quarter.
“With iPhone X Apple has added a new “Premium plus” category where it can target its loyal users to upgrade to a “premium plus “ category while the older generation iPhone users—iPhone 5 or 6 can still upgrade to iPhone 7 or 8 series,” Counterpoint Research associate director Tarun Pathak told PTI. He added that in India, he expects initial sales to be high with Apple user base upgrading to new devices, irrespective of pricing or value addition from the previous gen iPhone.
“However, Apple will have task to cut out to acquire Android users in premium segment when both S8 and Note 8 likely to give strong competition to Apple,” he said.
Samsung’s Note 8 will be available in the Indian market from 21 September, priced at Rs67,900. Samsung is betting big on Note 8 to consolidate its position in the Indian premium smartphone market (Rs30,000 and above), where it claims to have 68% share (GfK data).
Pathak noted that Apple now has its highest ever line of SKUs—8 models in its official line up excluding the iPhone 6 series which is still active in India. “This means Apple now has more portfolio of low end iPhone which it can use to acquire new users in emerging markets,” he said.

Nagpur: A rail journey between Nagpur to Hyderabad, may take a mere three hours, down from the nine that most trains take now, if a plan is put into action, a senior official said.
The railways has drawn a blueprint for a semi-high speed corridor linking the two commercial hubs, the official added.
“The ministry has initiated a joint feasibility and implementation study with Russian Railways to chalk out details after which it will be sent to the Railway Board for approval,” the senior ministry official said.
The Railways planned to cash in on the fact that at present there were no direct flights between Nagpur to Hyderabad. A flight with a stopover could take four hours or more.
Currently, Nagpur to Hyderabad 584-km stretch is covered by the Railways at an average speed of 60km/hr in a minimum of nine hours.
The railways is planning to run the trains at a speed of 160-200km/hr by strengthening the existing tracks and fencing off the route to complete the journey in less than three hours.
Semi-high speed trains can gather a maximum speed of 200 km/hr, while faster ones in the category of high-speed or bullet trains can run at 250-350 km/hr.
The Delhi-Chandigarh corridor, one of the busiest routes in north India, is slated to be the first semi-high speed project being taken up by the Railways with French help. It will enable trains to run at a maximum speed of 200km/hr.

Everybody knows that so much has gone wrong in the political system, Idea of non violence or ahimsa is what has allowed this mass of people(India) to rise together, There is no democratic country in history which has raised so many people out of poverty as India.
Small and medium entrepreneurs are the bedrock of India’s economic progress, Government’s economic policy of demonetisation and hastily implemented GST has caused tremendous pressure on economy , PM Modi massively opened up space for the terrorists in Kashmir, and you saw the increase in violence, When we started, terrorism was rampant in Kashmir, when we finished there was peace, we had broken the back of terrorism.

The new Xafecopy malware Trojan, which steals money from mobile phone users, has been recently detected by a Russia-based internet security firm Kaspersky. What’s alarming is that the penetration rate reveals 40 per cent of the malware’s targets has been in India.
The Xafecopy Trojan is categorised as a malware because it gets side loaded along with other useful apps and then loads malicious code onto the device.
Here is how the Xafecopy Trojan works:
The major entry point for any malware or ransomware is the installation of unverified apps from unknown sources. While the default setting of most smartphones restricts installing any app from an unknown source, the setting can easily be changed by the user.
Once the unverified app affected with Xafecopy Trojan or any other malware is installed and activated in the mobile phone, they spread in the root files of the smartphone and operate discreetly.
The Xafecopy malware clicks on web pages with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) billing – a form of mobile payment that required no credit/debit card information or CAPTCHA for security. The cost of purchases made through WAP billing is charged directly through the user’s bill.
How to identify if your device is affected
Because the malware works through WAP billing it requires a mobile data connection to operate and, therefore, the Trojan malware automatically disables the wireless connection. If you notice that your smartphone turns off the wireless connection randomly, there is a need to get your phone checked.
Also check your monthly bill for details. If you see any service activated other than what you know of, get in touch with telecom operator and seek information on it. Get the service cancelled and identify the app that raised the request to activate that service.
Run a background check of all the apps using Google Play protect to understand if all the apps are safe. If the phone fails to respond while scanning the app or if the list of apps shows fewer apps than what you have installed, look at the apps that do not feature in the Google Play app list and uninstall them at the earliest.
How to protect devices against such threats
Prohibit the installation of apps from unknown sources. This type of Trojan can be distributed through advertisements, and with this prohibition in place, you simply will not be allowed to install them.
Install a reliable mobile security anti-virus and internet security app that keeps a check on apps activity.
Most of the telecom operators provide the option to disable WAP billing from the backend. Get the service suspended by getting in touch with a telecom operator.
Mumbai: Bharti Airtel launches 4G VoLTE service or Voice over LTE services in Mumbai. Airtel VoLTE will be available on 4G- or LTE-enabled mobile devices with Airtel 4G SIMs, the telecom company said in a press release dated September 11. Available at no additional data charges, the VoLTE service will enable Airtel customers to make calls to any mobile or landline network, said Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecommnications services provider. Calls will be billed as per existing plan or pack, the telecom company noted.
With Airtel VoLTE, Bharti Airtel marked its entry as the second operator after Reliance Jio to start 4G VoLTE service in the country.
Bharti Airtel said the Airtel VoLTE service will offer customers “HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time”.
Reliance Jio’s aggressive entry has led the Indian telecom space into a state of heightened competition, with incumbent players extending their services and revising their tariffs, some analysts say.
Airtel plans to roll out VoLTE across the country over the next few months. Bharti Airtel director-networks Abhay Savargaonkar said, “Over the next few months, we will rapidly accelerate the deployment of VoLTE to cover all key geographies to bring HD quality calling to our customers. We keenly look forward to our device partners enabling Airtel VoLTE on their smartphones.”
Airtel VoLTE will also allow customers to continue with their data sessions at 4G speed while the call is in progress. Even in the case of non-availability of 4G, Airtel VoLTE calls will automatically fall back on 3G/2G network to ensure that customers continue to stay connected at all times, Bharti Airtel said.
At present, Reliance Jio is the only operator in India offering voice on 4G network using VoLTE technology across the country. Other telecom players have been offering voice calls to their 4G customers with support of their other established networks – 2G and 3G. Jio has made voice calls on its 4G network free for lifetime.
How to get Airtel VoLTE service
Bharti Airtel, in its September 11 press release, listed four steps on how customers will be able to subscribe to the Airtel VoLTE service:
1. Check mobile device compatibility at www.airtel.in/volte. Airtel has tested and certified popular device models for VoLTE compatibility. More models will keep getting added to this list.
2. Upgrade the mobile device’s operating software to the latest version that supports VoLTE. This update is provided by the handset manufacturer.
3. Ensure the device has a Airtel 4G SIM. Customers can upgrade to the 4G SIM by visiting the nearest Airtel store.
Addressing students on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s famous address at World Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday again stressed on the need for all Indian citizens to join in the campaign for a “Clean India“, saying citizens should think fifty times and ask themselves whether they have the right to chant ‘Vande Mataram’ when they can’t keep the country clean or abuse the land on which they live.
The speech was listened to by university students via video conference across the nation. Talking about the day, Prime Minister Modi said that today 9/11 became widely spoken about after 2001, but there was another 9/11 of 1893 which the nation remembers.
Swami Vivekananda 1983 full speech in Chicago
Here is the full text of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at the Parliament of Religion, Chicago
Sisters and Brothers of America,
It fills my heart with joy unspeakable to rise in response to the warm and cordial welcome which you have given us. I thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of the mother of religions, and I thank you in the name of millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and sects.
My thanks, also, to some of the speakers on this platform who, referring to the delegates from the Orient, have told you that these men from far-off nations may well claim the honor of bearing to different lands the idea of toleration. I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true. I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth. I am proud to tell you that we have gathered in our bosom the purest remnant of the Israelites, who came to Southern India and took refuge with us in the very year in which their holy temple was shattered to pieces by Roman tyranny. I am proud to belong to the religion which has sheltered and is still fostering the remnant of the grand Zoroastrian nation. I will quote to you, brethren, a few lines from a hymn which I remember to have repeated from my earliest boyhood, which is every day repeated by millions of human beings: “As the different streams having their sources in different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee.”
The present convention, which is one of the most august assemblies ever held, is in itself a vindication, a declaration to the world of the wonderful doctrine preached in the Gita: “Whosoever comes to Me, through whatsoever form, I reach him; all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to me.” Sectarianism, bigotry, and its horrible descendant, fanaticism, have long possessed this beautiful earth. They have filled the earth with violence, drenched it often and often with human blood, destroyed civilization and sent whole nations to despair. Had it not been for these horrible demons, human society would be far more advanced than it is now. But their time is come; and I fervently hope that the bell that tolled this morning in honor of this convention may be the death-knell of all fanaticism, of all persecutions with the sword or with the pen, and of all uncharitable feelings between persons wending their way to the same goal.
Address at the final session
Chicago, September 27, 1893
The World’s Parliament of Religions has become an accomplished fact, and the merciful Father has helped those who laboured to bring it into existence, and crowned with success their most unselfish labour.
My thanks to those noble souls whose large hearts and love of truth first dreamed this wonderful dream and then realized it. My thanks to the shower of liberal sentiments that has overflowed this platform. My thanks to this enlightened audience for their uniform kindness to me and for their appreciation of every thought that tends to smooth the friction of religions. A few jarring notes were heard from time to time in this harmony. My special thanks to them, for they have, by their striking contrast, made general harmony the sweeter.
Much has been said of the common ground of religious unity. I am not going just now to venture my own theory. But if any one here hopes that this unity will come by the triumph of any one of the religions and the destruction of the others, to him I say, “Brother, yours is an impossible hope.” Do I wish that the Christian would become Hindu? God forbid. Do I wish that the Hindu or Buddhist would become Christian? God forbid.
The seed is put in the ground, and earth and air and water are placed around it. Does the seed become the earth, or the air, or the water? No. It becomes a plant. It develops after the law of its own growth, assimilates the air, the earth, and the water, converts them into plant substance, and grows into a plant.
Similar is the case with religion. The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist, nor a Hindu or a Buddhist to become a Christian. But each must assimilate the spirit of the others and yet preserve his individuality and grow according to his own law of growth.
If the Parliament of Religions has shown anything to the world, it is this: It has proved to the world that holiness, purity and charity are not the exclusive possessions of any church in the world, and that every system has produced men and women of the most exalted character. In the face of this evidence, if anybody dreams of the exclusive survival of his own religion and the destruction of the others, I pity him from the bottom of my heart, and point out to him that upon the banner of every religion will soon be written in spite of resistance: “Help and not fight,” “Assimilation and not Destruction,” “Harmony and Peace and not Dissension.”

The visit, which will be Abe’s first since December 2015, is part of an agreement between the leaders to make alternating bilateral visits. Modi visited Japan in November last year.
The summit takes place amid rising tension in the region following the nuclear test by North Korea and growing Chinese assertiveness in the South China Sea.
This will be the fourth annual summit between Modi and Abe. The two leaders will review the recent progress in the multifaceted cooperation between India and Japan under the framework of their ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’ and will set its future direction.
Expect from the Japanese PM’s India visit:
The two prime ministers will also launch a couple of projects, including the Rs 3,000-crore Suzuki car manufacturing plant at Hansalpur, about 170 km from Ahmedabad, using a remote. Yello in Pratap Nagar is very popular amongst the people of Nagpur. The restaurant screens live sports, therefore, attracting the sports loving demographics amongst many other sections of society. There is a new restaurant-cafe in Nagpur that pays tribute to the original superfood eggs! Yello New Experiment With Eggs for Nagpur.
Its specialty is egg dishes, and some of the favorites are stuffed egg roll, the cheese corn roll, the lasagna and the cold coffee. They have many styles of omelets including fruit omelets, and egg lovers will be delighted with the spread at this restaurant. And the dishes did not disappoint. At all. While the Herbed Eggs have egg whites with assorted herbs and a dash of green chilli, the Eggs in BBQ Sauce was a sumptuous dish with thick, delicious BBQ sauce. The herbs were fresh and the kick of chilli made the Herbed Eggs refreshing.
Yello has a wam, welcoming exterior and a cool sit-down area with live matches being broadcast on a wall. Swanky and cool, the place is surprisingly pocket-friendly and has a big menu. The rates are reasonable and the portions are good, making this a good destination for many. Service is prompt and polite and the staff are courteous to the guests.
“The Breakfast Story” English Breakfast places with unique breakfast food items they have to offer
“The Breakfast Story” So having a restaurant within a bookstore is heaven for anyone who enjoys the company of a book over the company of another person. Every classic place to eat is a platform for stories to be born. Nagpur was truly lacking a place which will offer a kind of cosy cocoon for the food lovers to spend peaceful time having an affair with food. More over, it lacked a place where one can get a feel of English Breakfast places with unique breakfast food items they have to offer. every single table was taken and people were excited and happy to be there.
They have an all-day breakfast menu which is filled to the brim with all your regulars and delicious food choices. The restaurant works on a unique “surprise me” menu concept so everyday the main menu will be changing except the standard egg dishes, side dishes and beverages. They even allow you to prepare your own dish by using the kitchen. So you will always have your regular egg breakfast options, hot and cold beverages and side dishes like salami, bacon, etc. but the menu of the day will always be written on the black board above the counter (and in the print out on your table). Again the blackboard concept is there in such places abroad. Saturdays and Sundays will have specials like Veg/Non-veg English Breakfast.
“The Breakfast Story”. Located between Apana Bhandar and Raisoni Vidya Niketan School on Hingana Road, TBS offers this opportunity for Nagpur Food Lovers to get a glimpse of what is generally a trend in UK, Europe and other parts of the world, a laid back place to have nice breakfast with news papers or books to read or surf on your gadget using free wifi.
Once you enter, you will be impressed by its emphasis on creatively designed interiors, engaging furniture with common games like tic tac toe and snakes and ladder engraved on it. If you do not want to play then you can choose another tables in quiet corners beaming in sunlight from windows, or just select place with right height as per your preference. There is a lot of thought gone behind designing this space and every utility is created using some or other creative idea. For example magazine holder is created by having cycle careers on the wall, News Paper basket is made up of shopping cart trolly. Then there is use of old time gadgets like Radio, Camera, typewriter, etc which ads to the overall classic feel of the design. Though it relies on the old world charm, it offers modern day facilities like free wifi too.
Owners say that they wanted to create feel as if you are visiting their home and seating in the living room with accessibility to book rack, wifi, newspapers, etc. A place where you can walk-in, pick a newspaper or magazine and sit on a table of your choice and order at your own convenience.

No change has been made to the deadline of 18 October, 2017 for GSTR-4. This form has to be filed for the July -September 2017 period. The media statement issued by the government said the GST Council has decided that table 4 under GSTR-4 is not to be filled for the quarter, and that the requirement of GSTR-4A for this quarter has been dispensed with. Nagpur: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Sunday that the government would commission surveys in major cities of the state to find out what is the public perception of the state’s police forces. Fadnavis was speaking at a programme to unveil the outcome of a survey undertaken by the Nagpur Police to find out what the general public thinks of the efficacy of its work. Fadnavis praised the Nagpur police for “significantly improving” various indices of efficacy as revealed by the survey, which was conducted by the local Tirpude Institute of Management Education. “Positive outcome has come to fore in terms of qualitative changes in the survey for which Nagpur police deserve congratulations. The performance has vastly improved in regard to the number of crimes, successful detection and conviction rate. The survey will also help the police decide appropriately on necessary future corrections, which will lead to bettering of police-public relations,” said Fadnavis.
Nagpur Police hold surveys, Fadnavis mentioned the various initiatives taken by the Nagpur police, like Bharosa Cell, which was formed to immediately address women’s complaints, a special squad against land mafia and N Tracks — a traffic improvement programme, among others. He added, “Similar surveys will be undertaken in other cities of Maharashtra too.” Police Commissioner K Vyankateshan, who was present at the event, said, “Such a detailed survey about police functioning has been done for the first time, which has shown an improvement of 157 per cent about the image of the police in the public’s mind, a 147 per cent improvement in police’s conduct with the public, 135 per cent improvement in perception of work efficacy, 108 per cent in communication and 85 per cent in public support to police in 2017, as compared to 2014. This was due to various initiatives undertaken by the police.”

Rafael Nadal swept past Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro in brilliant style to set up a US Open final against Kevin Anderson.
Rafael Nadal, a veteran of big nights and spectacular wins, will play the 31-year-old South African debutant Kevin Anders on in the final of the US Open on Sunday after a commanding four-set win over Juan Martin del Potro on Friday night.
The Spaniard won nine games in a row at one stage on his way to a 4-6 6-0 6-3 6-2 victory in the second semi-final.
South Africa’s Anderson, 31, beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 earlier on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
At 32 in the world, Anderson is the lowest-ranked man to reach a US Open singles final since the ranking system was introduced in 1973.
He faces a huge challenge against Nadal, who has a 4-0 record in their head-to-head and grew stronger as the match wore on against a tired Del Potro.
Nadal said of Anderson, “He is a huge player, with unbelievable serve. And he plays so well on this surface. He had some injuries but was able to back and play the best tennis of his career. I have known him since we were 12 years. Great to see him in the final.”
Nadal was the first to crack, in the fifth game, and Del Potro consolidated on his booming serve which was hitting the spot with ominous accuracy.
The last time Nadal lost in the semi-final of a slam was here in 2009 to Del Potro on the same court eight years ago, and he was not about to endure a repeat performance.
Del Potro, roared on by the Argentine fans who have given him loud support throughout this US Open, gathered himself to win a tight first set, before running out of steam.
The 24th seed coped superbly in the early stages as Nadal pummelled his weaker backhand wing, winning the cross-court battle and, thanks to a net cord on break point, with it the set.

But an epic five-set win over Dominic Thiem and a draining four-set defeat of Roger Federer in the previous rounds had left Del Potro admitting that he felt tired, and Nadal took full advantage.
The world number one found his range in the second set, shifting the point of attack to send his forehand up the line and reeling off 13 winners to Del Potro’s one.
A powerful 8.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Mexico late Thursday, killing at least 16 people in what the president called the quake-prone country’s biggest one in a century.
One of the most powerful earthquakes ever to strike Mexico has hit off its southern coast, killing at least 15 people, toppling houses and businesses and sending panicked people into the streets more than 650 miles away.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake hit off Chiapas state near the Guatemalan border with a magnitude as 8.1 — slightly stronger than the magnitude 8 quake of 1985 quake that killed thousands and devastated large parts of Mexico City.
National civil defense chief Luis Felipe Puente told that at least 15 people had died, 10 of them in Oaxaca, also close to the epicenter.
Hundreds of buildings collapsed or were damage, power was cut at least briefly to more than 1.8 million people and authorities closed schools Friday in at least 11 states to check them for safety.
“The house moved like chewing gum and the light and internet went out momentarily,” said Rodrigo Soberanes, who lives near the Chiapas state city of San Cristobal de las Casas.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded at least 20 aftershocks of magnitude 4.0 or greater within about five hours after the main shake, and the president warned that a major aftershock as large as magnitude 7.2 could occur.
The USGS said the quake struck at 11:49 p.m. Thursday and its epicenter was 102 miles west of Tapachula in Chiapas. It had a depth of 43.3 miles.
The quake caused buildings to sway violently in Mexico’s capital more than 650 miles away. As beds banged against walls, people still wearing pajamas fled into the streets, gathering in frightened groups.
Chiapas Gov. Manuel Velasco said that three people were killed in San Cristobal, including two women who died when a house and a wall collapsed. He called on people living near the coast to leave their houses as a protective measure.
“There is damage to hospitals that have lost energy,” he said. “Homes, schools and hospitals have been damaged.”

Nitin Gadkari told about Cars Industry, petrol and diesel vehicle impacts
Nitin Gadkari Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping on Thursday said he wants the pace of car sales in India to slow down as growth in vehicle sales, particularly those running on diesel, is choking roads and causing increased pollution.
“You may not like it, but I wish it from my heart that your growth should be less. If this growth continues, I will need to add one more lane to national highways, which will cost a whopping Rs 80,000 crore,” Gadkari told stunned representatives of the car industry.
Petrol and diesel vehicles will need to make way for electric powertrains and engines running on other fuel variants such as ethanol and biofuels. “I am going to do it, whether you like it or not. I will bulldoze. Petrol, diesel banaane walon kaa band-baajaa bajaanaa hai (We will take the makers of petrol/diesel engine vehicles to task),” Gadkari said.
Gadkari, speaking in line with the government’s larger plan to have only electric vehicles in India by 2030, advised the industry to “innovate, research and work on new technologies” to find alternative transport solutions. “Come to public transport. You can bring solutions through diversification.”
Citing an example, the minister said car usage has seen a rapid rise. “Even my chef comes in a car. There are too many cars, which is also leading to parking problems. I think the car industry should also go in for finding parking solutions, and look at an integrated approach.”
To cut down on use of cars, especially in smaller towns, the minister said the government is planning to come out with a platform or an app – on the lines of Uber and Ola – that would facilitate the use of two-wheelers as a taxi.
“Gadkari said, adding that “we need to move towards alternative fuels” such as ethanol. “The government has decided to start 15 industries for second-generation ethanol. Ethanol can easily be produced from agro-based cotton straw, wheat straw, rice straw, bagass and bamboo. Alternative fuel is import substitute, cost effective and pollution free,”.
The minister said that the industry should increasingly focus on electric vehicles and added that cost of batteries has also been coming down. Seeking the launch of electric bikes, buses and cars
A Strong Earthquake of magnitude 8.1 has struck in the Pacific off the southern coast of Mexico
A very powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.1 has struck in the Pacific off the southern coast of Mexico, shaking buildings in the capital and sparking tsunami warnings.
A huge rescue operation is under way in the worst-hit states of Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas where people are feared trapped under rubble.
President Enrique Peña Nieto says at least 200 people have been injured.
The USGS said a magnitude 8.1 quake struck 123 km (76 miles) southwest of the town of Pijijiapan, at a depth of 33 km (21 miles). Widespread, hazardous tsunami waves were possible, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.
The quake was felt in Mexico City, with buildings shaking and people running into the street. Some electricity cuts have been reported in the capital but there are no reports of major damage there.

If confirmed at magnitude 8.1, the quake would be bigger in strength to those that struck Mexico in 1995 and 1985. The latter hit close to Mexico City and caused thousands of deaths.
Mexico is currently also being threatened on its eastern coast by Hurricane Katia. The government has said at least 32 people have died in southern Mexico. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said in a tweet that he had initiated emergency protocols, including convening the National Emergency Committee.
