December 16, 2022: HDFC Bank announced that it has opened 100 new branches across India. The new branches were opened in 83 cities/towns spread across 15 states and Union Territories. Nearly 50% of these branches are in semi-urban and rural geographies.
The new branches were digitally launched by the bank’s MD and CEO, Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan. Senior bank officials from Madhya Pradesh were also present.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Announces the Inauguration of its first Regional Stockyard in Northern India
Bangalore December, 2022: In line with its Customer-First philosophy of enabling easy access to world-class products and services to its customers, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the inauguration of its first regional stockyard at Faruknagar in Haryana.
Ensuring a leaner and efficient distribution network across the region, the strategically located stockyard will reduce delivery time from the current 6-8 days to a maximum of two days for dealers in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Jammu & Kashmir. Furthermore, the Faruknagar stockyard will aid in speed, flexibility, cost reductions and more importantly CO2 reduction for, as dispatches from the TKM plant to the stockyard will be maximised through trains journeys. Currently, 60% of total TKM dispatches take place through trains and our aim is to increase the same to 80%, while being able to deliver 5,000 vehicles per month.

Maharashtra electricity employees and engineers up in arms against privatization
To strike work from January 4 to 6
The Maharashtra Rajya Veej Karmachari, Adhikari, Abhiyanta Sangharsh Samiti (Maharashtra State Electricity Workers, Officers, and Engineers Struggle Committee) is on warpath with the state government against the privatization policy of the government.
Thirty unions have joined hands to oppose this policy and will be striking work from January 4 to 6 for 72 hours. But before that, they will also be holding other protests to press their demands on the authorities.
The electricity employees are against the idea of the state government giving almost the entire power industry, both thermal and hydroelectricity in hands of the Adani Group.
This is despite the Mahavitaran or MSEDCL being a profitable company. It is the largest and most efficient company in Asia and has won many central government awards for its overall efficiency and management of the company.
Privatization will be the cross-subsidy that is provided to agricultural consumers to zero from the area covered by Adani. It will also increase the electricity price or tariff. It will be impossible to provide electricity to farmers, household consumers, and vulnerable groups at cheap rates.

December 12, 2022: Nearly 2 out of 3 Men (65%) take Investment decisions largely independently, but only a minority (44%) of women do so, revealed the DSP Winvestor Pulse 2022 Study. DSP Mutual Fund unveiled the findings of the DSP Winvestor Pulse 2022 Survey in association with research agency YouGov, highlighting investment behavior among women and men and the differences in their attitudes and involvement while making investment decisions.
The study found that a much higher proportion of men (40%) as compared to women (27%) take entirely independent investment decisions (without consulting a professional advisor). Among those who take investment decisions along with someone else, women (67%) claimed to consult their spouse much more than men (48%) do. More than double the proportion of men (26%) said that they consulted their father for making investment decisions than women (10%).
The survey also uncovered that husbands (21%) play a bigger role in introducing women to investing than their fathers (12%). On the other hand, most men claimed to be self-taught investors. A larger percentage of men also claimed they were introduced to investments by their father (15% for men vs 12% for women), friends & social circle (18% for men & 11% for women).
From those who responded to the survey, while 32% women consulted a professional financial advisor, 36% men did so. Most men (79%) and women (78%) said they were gender neutral when it came to considering financial advisors, while the second largest preference was for male advisors among both men (15%) and women (13%). Female financial advisors were slightly more preferred by women (8%) than men (6%).
An interesting aspect of the survey was that a vast majority (nearly 70% of both male and female respondents) said they advise/ would advise their son & daughter differently about investing. In fact, 41% of parents said their own investment strategy will differ depending on their child’s gender.
An encouraging observation was that nearly half (45%) of men & women surveyed said they were investing more post Covid. Pandemic induced introspection about money, wanting higher returns than earlier and ease of investing via apps were cited by both men & women as top reasons to invest more post Covid. Among those who said that they were investing less post COVID, both men and women cite reduced income and wanting to take lesser risk as top reasons. However, more men (28%) than women (22%) cite loss of job / shutting of business as a reason to invest lesser.
The study found that the top investment goals for men and women are largely similar: To improve standard of living, save enough for retirement, and provide for child’s education. However, more women (45%) listed providing for child’s education as one of their top goals than men (40%). More men expressed having enough to live debt-free (38% for men & 33% for women) and starting their own venture (26% for men & 23% for women) as top goals.
DSP Winvestor Pulse 2022 was conducted as part of DSP Mutual Fund’s Winvestor initiative, a program to encourage women to take charge of their investment decisions and to instill confidence in them, so they don’t depend on someone else to control their finances. DSP encourages women to take charge and own their money by seeking advice only from qualified financial experts.
The survey covered 4,625 women and men across 10 cities (4 metros: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and 6 mini-metros: Indore, Kochi, Patna, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Amritsar). The study captures responses from men and women who have been involved in investment decision-making from the age group 25 – 60. Fieldwork for the survey was done from October to November 2022. The participants include those who are currently working or have worked for at least 2 years in the past, whether they were single, married without kids or married with kids.

A telling aspect of the survey for me was that women are introduced by, as well as guided on investments more by their husbands, not by their fathers. I would appeal to parents in general & fathers specifically so, to open conversations on money & investing with their daughters at an early age. This will lead the next generation to be smarter with their investing decisions. In addition, I believe that the right professional investment advice will make a big difference in enabling women to take control of their destiny. This is where our MFDs and advisor-partners will continue to play a key role going forward.”
40% of class 10, 30% class 12 exams competency based- Ministry of Education
Almost 40% of questions in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 exam and 30% in class 12 exams in 2023 will be competency based, the Ministry of Education said.
According to the Ministry, the questions will comprise multiple formats such as objective type, constructing response type, assertion and reasoning and case based. The information was shared by Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi in response to a written question in Lok Sabha.
‘In pursuance of NEP-2020, CBSE has been introducing competency-based questions in the Classes 10 and 12 board examinations to reform the pattern of examinations. These questions comprise multiple formats such as objective type, constructing response type, assertion and reasoning and case based format,’ she said. ‘In the academic session 2022-23, approximately 40 per cent questions in Class 10 board examinations and approximately 30 per cent questions in Class 12 are competency based,’ the minister added. Theory examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 for the academic year will begin from February 15, 2023. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is yet to announce the exam schedule.
The minister further said that following the introduction of the new National Education Policy, 2020, the CBSE had advised affiliated schools to follow the recommendations regarding the pattern of education.
‘Prominent among these are – competency based learning, adoption of learning outcomes, use of experiential and joyful learning pedagogies such as art integrated education, sports integrated learning, storytelling etc, emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy, induction of qualified counsellors at secondary and senior secondary level,’ said the minister.
Reflector, in general, refers to any object and not the source of light that reflects light back in a specific direction when light is projected on it.
Major road accidents due to good carriers without reflectors at night time can take place leaving the person severely injured. In consideration of the possibility of road accidents, the Regional Transport Office, (RTO) will start imposing fine on vehicles without reflectors.
The owner or the driver of the vehicle will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 1000 if the rules are violated.
A fine of Rs 1500 will be imposed if the driver increases the song volume. They will recover a fine of Rs 500 for the first time but then direct fine of Rs 1500 will be needed to pay.
An RTO officer said “it was very much necessary to display reflectors during the passing of a vehicle. Reflectors play a vital role in saving the lives of the people. A driver coming from behind can judge the distance of the vehicle ahead and will take precautionary measures to avoid road accidents. Hence, the vehicle owners should ensure reflectors in white, red, and yellow on their vehicles.”

Everyone around me has always been curious about the man in my life and when I’ll get hitched. It is one question that encompassed every discussion that would involve me. So finally, the cat is out of the bag! I tied the knot with Sandeep in a private ceremony with close friends and family. We had elaborate rituals spread over four days. The celebrations started with Sakhar Puda – the engagement ceremony. The marriage ceremony took place in Nagpur in a typical Maharashtrian style. Marathi weddings are quite simpler and fast-paced. I wore a silk saree with an intricate gold border in a wonderful and distinctive Maharashtrian style with a Mundavalya on my forehead. We also held Kelvan, a pre-wedding Marathi ritual a day or two before the wedding. All the traditions, such as Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet, and Phera, took place in Orange City, followed by a grand reception in my hometown of Indore. My parents were in tears to see me in the bride’s attire, and I was equally emotional. It felt like a dream, but it was all so real and magical”.

Nagpur cop abuses old age driver, women returning from PM Modi’s event
Nagpur: While the mismanagement of Nagpur Traffic Police was quite evident for the people who travelled to MIHAN for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Second Capital of the State, a police personnel caught an eye of social media after he abused an old age driver and also misbehaved with women who were returning from the event. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media platforms attracting flak from all sections of society.
Speaking to Nagpur Today Gayatri Uchitkar, a BJP worker, who was subjected to misbehave by the cop narrated her ordeal
“After PM Modi’s event, we were returning to city. However, while crossing MIHAN area, a police personnel of Nagpur Police picked a scuffle with our driver, following a minor traffic hiccup. The cop subsequently hurled abuses at our driver, who is an old man. When I tired to intervene, he also misbehaved with me,” informed Gayatri.
“I’m going to file a complaint with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar,” she added.
Notably, thousands of Nagpurians were subjected to severe traffic chaos thanks to the apathy of Nagpur Traffic Police. Even media personnel covering PM Modi event were no exceptions! While PM Modi even reached Goa from Nagpur, all the visitors gone for his MIHAN visit were stuck at the venue.
PAN card to get inactive from April 1 if not linked to Aadhar
The income tax administration warned citizens on Saturday to hurry up and link their Permanent Account Numbers (PANS) to their separate Aadhaar biometric identification numbers before the deadline passes.
“As per Income-tax Act, 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their PAN with Aadhaar before 31 March 2023. From 1 April .2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative. The last date is approaching soon. Don’t delay, link it today!” the department said in a social media post. PAN is required for a variety of financial operations, such as creating bank accounts, depositing money into them, opening Demat accounts, buying and selling real estate, and trading in stocks. Additionally, the PAN card is a form of picture identification recognised by all governmental and non-governmental organisations in the nation. Linking the two is crucial for the tax administration
because Aadhaar is biometric-based and cannot be obtained based on any other identifying paper.
As stated in a previous announcement, inhabitants of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Meghalaya who do not have an Aadhaar are excluded from this requirement.
In addition, non-residents as defined by the Income Tax Act of 1961, those who were eighty years old or older at any point in the prior year, and foreign nationals are included in the exempt group. The tax department’s main objective is to link PAN and Aadhaar, which will assist reduce the number of duplicate PANs and improve tax compliance. After paying a cost of Rs. 1000, PAN can be linked with Aadhaar on the tax department’s website, www.incometax.gov.in, according to the government.
Kasturchand Park-Automotive Square & Prajapati Nagar-Sitabuldi Interchange Routes open for Revenue Services
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today, flagged off inaugural metro trains from Automotive Square to Kasturchand Park Metro Station (Orange Line) and Prajapati Nagar to Sitabuldi Interchange (Aqua Line). The Prime Minister, dedicated first phase of Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The starting of metro services would provide seamless connectivity to commuters across the city on all the four directions.
The Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Hon Eknath Shinde, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Hon Nitin Gadkari, Deputy Chief Minister Hon Devendra Fadanvis, Union Minister of State for Railways Shri Raosaheb Danve, MP Shri Krupal Tumane, MLC Shri Chandra Shekhar Bawankule and other officials accompanied the Prime Minister during the event.
The section from Automotive Square to Kasturchand Park Metro Station is part of Reach-II, while Prajapati Nagar to Sitabuldi Interchange forms Reach-IV of Nagpur Metro Project. Simultaneously, the Prime Minister also performed Shilanyas for the second phase of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The Phase-II would be extension of the first phase and includes 32 stations and covers a distance of 43.8 km and extends to Kanhan in North, Butibori MIDC in South, Transport Nagar (Kapsi) in East and Hingna in West. It comprises 1.2 km at-grade with 2 stations and 42.6 km elevated with 30 stations.
The Prime Minister reached Zero Mile Metro Station at 10 am today and viewed the gallery and exhibition there. The Gallery and the exhibition showcased the entire Maha Metro Nagpur project since beginning. The Maha Metro Nagpur routes on all the four directions were depicted there. The various facets of the project like double decker via-duct, Zero Mile Metro Station, Guinness World Record title achievement were on display at the Gallery.
A `Rangoli’, depicting G20 logo was also drawn at the Zero Mile Metro Station, which was a major attraction for the commuters. The Prime Minister went through the gallery watched the various panels put up on display there. He also inspected the model of Maha Metro Rail Project Phase-I. After watching the Model and the exhibition, the Prime Minister got a ticket form himself and then proceeded to the Platform level to board the train.
The Prime Minister boarded metro train from Zero Mile Metro Station at the platform level. On board, the Prime Minister talked to students from All India Institute of Medial Sciences (AIIMS) and asked them about their academic exercise. He also interacted with young entrepreneurs from various start-ups and also diwyang individuals. The Prime Minister also enquired about various activities undertaken by the Diwyang (Physically Challanged) bodies.
The PM deboarded at Khapri Metro Station. He flagged off maiden Metro trains on the two routes of (Khapri to Automotive Square Metro Station) and Aqua Line (Prajapati Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station). He unveiled the plaque dedicating first phase of Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The Prime Minister performed Shilanyas of the second phase of the Nagpur Metro Project.
A social worker and Diwyang Shri Shrikant Bhoge who rode the Metro train said that he was fortunate to meet and talk to the Prime Minister. He said he was excited to have travelled with the PM and added that he gave congratulatory letter to the PM, which he willingly accepted.
The starting of services on these two routes have been widely welcomed by one and all and would certainly boost the Maha Metro ridership in the days to come.

With the reserve spread over 625.4 square kilometres, forest personnel also travel to remote locations within the forest area on two wheelers.
With the additional patrolling vehicles, the frontline personnel will face lower risk while discharging their duties and can intensify patrolling effectively. Furthermore, this will also improve patrolling capabilities at the tiger reserve and will play an important role in the prevention and early detection of forest fires and help reduce human-wildlife conflict.

Board exams; No home centres for SSC, HSC students
The Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced that students appearing for the 2023 SSC and HSC board exams in February-March will not be allowed to take the exams in their school and that no extra time would be given to the students for completion of their papers.
Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will be conducted in the original, pre-Covid manner, and the old guidelines will be brought back.
The extra time was given to compensate the students as they had faced problems during the online classes.
Similarly, the facility of home centres was introduced for the safety of students during the pandemic, but now for the upcoming board exams, the students will have to travel to the allotted centre.
Talking about the specially-abled students, Suma Das, Principal of Bhandup’s Pawar Public School said that at least some sort of support should be given to special students. She said, “ICSE board supports students with such policies, the State Board should do it as well.”
Transgender people can apply for police constable’s job: Maharashtra govt to HC
MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Friday told the Bombay HC it will allow transgender persons to apply in the state-wide recruitment process for police constables.
Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja were told by advocate-general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni that it will provide for a third drop-down option for transgenders after male and female in the online application form by December 13. Transgender candidates can apply before December 15, the last date for submitting the forms.
The state had appealed against orders of Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal in respect of Arya Pujari (23) from Satara and Nikita Mukhyadal (34) from Pimpri-Chinchwad. Both aspirants had moved MAT aggrieved that there was no option for transgenders to apply.
Every person is a Hindu who considers India as his own, asserts RSS chief Dr Mohanji Bhagwat
Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said “Every person is a Hindu who considers India as his own. Accept it in adverse situations. No matter what language a person speaks, what religion he practices or whether he is an atheist, he considers the country as his own, he is a Hindu,” he asserted.
Dr Bhagwat further said, “Every Hindu should be patriotic and it must be his or her basic character. If one loves one’s country, it doesn’t mean the land only, it means its culture, traditions, people, rivers and every aspect encompassing the nation.”
Addressing a gathering during the concluding programme of Tritiya Varsh Sangh Shiksha Varg of RSS at Reshimbagh ground, Dr Bhagwat also said, the RSS has worked for creating awareness about patriotism and imbibing it among the people of the country. Param Pujya Shri Shri Jagatguru Dr Mallikarjun Vishwaaradhya Shivacharya Mahaswamiji was the chief guest of the programme.
The ‘Shiksha Varg’ is the process of imbibing patriotism among the youth, who becomes a Swayamsevak after this course, said the RSS chief. Dr Bhagwat said, India gave the message of peace to the world. Now the whole world looks towards India as the land of peace and happiness. “You need to maintain relations with the world, but on your own terms, and for it, you need to become capable. Those who want to be independent should also become capable in respect of their security,” Dr Bhagwat emphasised.
India has the vision of world peace and now, we are heading towards becoming a Vishwaguru’ with this vision, said the RSS chief. He also said, people should think about what they can give to the country rather than asking what the country or society gives them. “Amid our own progress, we should live our lives thinking about the progress of the country and society,” he added.
Swamiji, in his speech said, the ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’ of India is famous world-wide. “Our history is loaded with such stories that explain the bonding of Guru-Shishya’ and the Shiksha Varg of RSS is also an example of the same culture.” Talking about the effect of westernisation, Swamiji said, “The Western culture has captured the mind of Indian youth and kids. Today, their patriotism is on decline. RSS is on a mission to imbibe patriotism among youths through such training courses, which he added is the need of the hour.”
Earlier, Dakshinamurty, Sarva Varg Sarvadhikari, presided over the event. Ram Harkare, Vidarbha Prant Sanghchalak, and Shridhar Gadge, Nagpur Mahanagar Saha Sanghchalak also shared the dais.

State-level Boxing Championships will be held at Gandhibagh Indoor Hall beginning December 10 under the auspices of the Maharashtra Boxing Association.
During a press conference, Secretary Nagpur Mahanagar Boxing Association Arun Bhute stated, “It will be the 21st Elite women state boxing championship, which will be hosted by Nagpur Boxing Association. The championship will be held for women’s ages 19 to 40 years, with 12 weight categories ranging from under 45kg to 80kg+.”
The competition will feature 112 players from 29 Maharashtra districts.
The matches will begin at 11 a.m. on December 10 and will last until December 12. Six teams competed in this competition.
The state association has invited six women and six men to serve as referees “He continued.

Asha Bhosle to receive Maharashtra Bhushan Award in the city
Legendary playback singer, Asha Bhosle will soon be presented with the Maharashtra Bhusan award in the city said the State Cultural Minister, Sudhir Mungantiwar on Wednesday.
Starting her career in the year 1943, Bhosle was also mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most-recorded artist in history. The younger sibling of the late Lata Mangeshkar received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2008.
The function is likely to be held on December 21 or 22, 2022 at Yashwant Stadium, Dhantoli.
NPCI to allow credit card holders to use UPI for payments
Razorpay, a fintech platform, is partnering with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to allow credit card holders to use the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) to pay for goods and services. The National Payments Corporation of India, which is responsible for making all payment-related choices, is constantly making decisions to expand the use of UPI throughout the nation. Until now, NPCI had acknowledged the possibility of using a credit card to enhance UPI payment. For this, UPI and Rupay have a partnership. Following this, the Razorpay payment gateway now permits its merchants to accept UPI payments via Rupay credit cards.
Razorpay stated that Axis Bank is a partner of Razorpay. This choice was made with the demands of the traders in mind. The RuPay Credit Card is now accepted by merchants using Razorpay and UPI. You will be able to pay Razorpay merchants using your Rupay credit card through HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, and Indian Bank as the first banks.
The major benefit of attaching your UPI credit card is that you won’t need to take it with you wherever you go. Through UPI, credit card payments are simple and convenient. When making this payment, you must select the credit card option rather than the debit card option.

Pernod Ricard India leads an industry-first initiative – #OneForOurPlanet to reduce environmental impact across its value chain; removes permanent mono-cartons from its packaging
8 December 2022, Mumbai: Pernod Ricard India (PRI), a global leader in the wine and spirits industry, launches an industry first initiative – #OneForOurPlanet, as it continues its journey towards the removal of permanent mono-cartons from its packaging. With this landmark sustainability initiative, the company is removing 100% permanent mono-cartons from its packaging by June 2023, in a phased manner.
#OneForOurPlanet reiterates the company’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of packaging across each step of its value chain, from grain to glass. It also aims to nudge today’s purpose-driven consumers to make eco-conscious purchase decisions. Advancing towards a greener tomorrow, with this initiative, Pernod Ricard India strives to generate a holistic impact by reducing carbon emissions every year by 7310 Tonnes, saving 2.5 lakh trees, and reducing waste-to-land fill by 18745 tons. With this initiative, the company aims to reduce cumulative packaging emissions by over 75,000 Tonnes by 2030.

Maha Metro Nagpur, is operating passenger services on 26.5 km route from Kasturchand Park to Khapri Metro Station & Sitabuldi Interchange to Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station. Soon metro trains will be operating on a 13.5 km route. It includes 8.5 km stretch between Sitabuldi Interchange and Prajapati Nagar Metro Station and 5 km stretch between Kasturchand Park Metro Station and Automotive Chowk Metro Station.

• Prajapati Nagar Metro Station: Prajapati Nagar Metro Station is the last metro station on the East-West route or the Aqua Line and has highest traffic volume. A large number of people from this area travel to MIDC Hingana daily for jobs. Gandhibag, Itwari, Maskasath etc. are major commercial areas adjacent to this metro line.
This Metro Station will cater to people living in and around areas like Mahalgaon, Kapshi, Bhandewadi, and Swami Narayan Mandir.
