Nagpur : Tehsil police on Thursday seized heroin worth Rs 92,000 and arrested a drug peddler. However, another drug peddler managed to dodge police and went absconding.
On Thursday around 6.30 pm, the Senior Police Inspector of Tehsil Police Station received a tip-off from an informant that two persons were standing in front of Kamalbaba Dargah and were in possession of narcotics substance. Acting swiftly, a team of cops reached the spot and detained one of the persons and frisked him.
Cops found the person, named Shahbaz alias Sonu Mohd Israel alias Manza (25), resident of Mominpura, in possession of 23 grammes of heroin worth Rs 92,000. Cops have also seized a red-coloured Activa moped (MH-49/AW 1592) worth Rs 35,000. The other person, named Mohd Israel alias Manza Karim Ulla Patel (54) father of Shahbaz, managed to give cops a slip and went absconding.
An offence under Sections 21, 29 of NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.
