Nagpur : With heatwave intensifying in several parts of the country, United State’s El Dorado Weather has released a list of 10 hottest cities in the World on Tuesday. Among them, Bramhapuri, Chandrapur, Nagpur and Wardha of Vidarbha placed in the list with maximum temperature of above 45 degree Celsius. Bramhapuri recorded 47 degree Celsius while Chandrapur, Nagpur and Wardha experienced 46.4, 46.3 and 45.9 degree Celsius respectively on Tuesday. Matam region of Senegal was the hottest place in the world with 47.4 degree Celsius while Uttar Pradesh’s Banda was second in the list with 47.2 degree Celsius. Banda was hottest in the country and Bramhapuri second in the country.
According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), “Severe heatwave conditions very likely to occur at isolated places over Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Washim, Yavatmal and Wardha districts of Vidarbha in next 24 hours.” The citizens are facing hardships due to hot weather along with heatwaves prevailed in the district. The situation leads people to feel the mercury impact four per cent higher as compared to original weather condition. The weather condition is turning hot from 8.30 am onwards in the city every day. Now, the situation seems that the weather will turn hotter in the month of May. Generally, the temperature touches 45 degrees Celsius in May every year.
But this time, it touched in April itself. Citizens preferred to stay at homes to avoid the summer scorch. The temperature also impacted city roads which are adorning a deserted look during day time. Shortage of water in city dams is adding to inconvenience of everyone to get potable water on daily basis.
Many places are dependent on tanker services to get water. IMD also issued advisory to avoid heat during day time for next few days. Local Government and private hospitals are also prepared to handle sunstroke cases in the city. Many hospitals increased beds in their wards also. As per the heat action plan of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), the authority provided water filters, green cloths and taking other precautions in the administrative buildings, hospitals, public places and schools.
