Nagpur: Valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, who simultaneously fought with different enemies during his rule to protect the motherland, was effectively portrayed in the mega historical play ‘Shivputra Sambhaji’ being staged at Reshimbagh ground on Saturday.
Written by Mahendra Mahadik, the play told the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Sambhaji is known in history as the protector of Hindavi swarajya which his father established. Sambhaji had put up a valiant fight against enemies like Mughals and Britishers, besides others, till his death.
The play was organized by Madhyam Lok Seva Pratishthan and Mohan Mate Vichar Parivar.
Dr Amol Kohle, in the lead role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji was a treat to watch as he portrayed the character with passion and recreated the aura that surrounded the Maratha Warrior. Ravi Patwardhan was superb in essaying the role of Aurangzeb.
Stage arrangement, lighting, music, and costumes had a deep impact on the spectators who were watching live an important part of history being recreated.
After inauguration CM Devendra Fadnavis said Chhatrapati Sambhaji will always be known in the annals of history as a learned man who had knowledge of the Vedas, Upanishads and various languages. It was Sambhaji’s relentless efforts that protected the kingdom from alien forces especially after the death of Shivaji Maharaj.
Present at the mega show were Justice PN Deshmukh of the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, former BJP MP Ajay Sancheti, senior RSS functionary Sunil Deshpande and Pankaj Babaria, among others .
