Four girls from Maharashtra to represent India in SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship

Four girls from Maharashtra have been selected to represent India in the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship to be played in Bhutan from August 8 to 19. It was announced by All India Football Fedetation (AIFF) on Tuesday.

Priyanka Sujeesh, Jahnvi Shetty and Mmehak Lobo, all from Mumbai and Anjali Barke from Pune will join the 23-member Indian squad of SAFF which is an association football tournament for women’s national teams under the age of 15.

Mmehak is among the four forwards, while Priyanka has been included as a defensive midfielder, Jahnvi provides the coach options of playing in the right wing position or as a central defensive midfielder and Anjali is one of the two goalkeepers in the team.

India is clubbed in Group-A along with hosts Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

The Indians will open their campaign against Sri Lanka on Thursday, August 9 and after a gap of three days will clash with the home team Bhutan on Monday, August 13.

Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan are other three teams participating in the championship and they have been drawn in Group-B.
