Jilted lover stabs girl 16 times in Nagpur; tries to commit suicide later

Nagpur: In another horrible crime against women, a man attacked his girlfriend in Chimur taluka, Nagpur, and stabbed her 16 times with a knife. The crime was done after the girl’s family had opposed their marriage, enraging the jilted lover.

After attacking her, the youth tried to kill himself by consuming poison. Both the victim and the accused were seriously injured and are being treated in a hospital in Nagpur. The accused, 22-year-old Chetan Suresh Gajbha, is a resident of Nandara in Chimur taluka. He had been in a love affair with the victim for the last four years.

Chetan went to the girl’s parents with a marriage proposal but they refused. Angered by this, he decided to kill his girlfriend. When the victim came from her college on the next day, he stopped her and stabbed her 16 times with a knife.

The victim’s friend rushed back to the village and informed locals about the gruesome incident. Meanwhile, Chetan tried to kill himself by consuming poison. Both of them were immediately rushed to the sub-district hospital for treatment.

The girl’s condition was critical and hence, she was shifted to another hospital in Nagpur. The accused’s condition also worsened and he has also been shifted to Nagpur for treatment.
