Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the first gold medal for India at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina by lifting a combined weight of 274kgs in the Men’s 62kg Group A event of weightlifting on Tuesday.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga put up a massive effort to scoop the gold as he lifted 150kgs in his last attempt in the clean and jerk round to record a total of 274 kgs. In the snatch round, Lalrinnunga has lifted 120kgs in his first attempt and then lifted 124kgs in the third attempt after having failed int he second.
With 124kgs after the snatch round, Lalrinnunga was already on top of the moment after which, he showed great mettle in lifting 142kgs and 150kgs in clean and jerk to win the gold medal.
This is India’s fourth medal in Buenos Aires with Shahu Tushar Mane, Mehuli Ghosh and Tababi Devi Thangjam winning silver medals in shooting and judo, respectively.
