Nagpur: Police finally nabbed a troublesome mobile snatcher who targeted people talking on their smartphones and sped away from the scene of crime in a fashion similar to Bollywood movie ‘Dhoom’. Gittikhadan Police finally arrested 19-year-old Sanidhya alias Dadu Jaybharat Somkunvar in a mobile snatching case.
The case that led to his capture was where 24-year-old Abhishek Santosh Madavi’s mobile phone was snatched. The incident took place at Surendragad, Nagpur at around 8.30 pm on November 1 where two bikers snatched his phone. Abhishek approached the police station and filed his complaint saying that his Redmi Y2 smartphone was snatched. Subsequently, a case was registered under IPC 392, 34 and investigation was initiated into the same.
In the course of the investigation, cops traceed and located Abhishek’s mobile location in Dighori area of Nagpur on November 14. Soon after, Police reached Yogeshwar Nagar, Dighori area and detained Sanidhya alias Dadu.Upon questioning, Sanidhya admitted to his crimes and also gave the name and address of his partner who was detained. Accused Somkunvar and his friend snatched smartphones and sped away through narrow lanes in ‘Dhoom’ style. A total of 17 mobile phones have been recovered and a Bajaj Pulsar 220 bike used in the crime has also been confiscated.
Accused Somkunvar and his minor friend snatched many mobile phones across the city. They committed crimes in Gittikhadan, Nandanvan, Dhantoli, Sitabardi, Ambajhari and Sakkardara areas unabashedly.
