Ganeshpeth police seized gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh lying unclaimed in ST bus

Nagpur: Ganeshpeth police on Thursday seized gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh lying unclaimed in MSRTC bus. The cops received information that driver and conductor of Nagpur-Gondia bus have found a bag containing gold and silver ornaments. Subsequently, a team of cops led by PSI Atram reached Bus Depot at Ghat Road and started investigation. The officials and employees of Bus Depot told the cops that driver D R Kakde and conductor W D Dharmik were on duty on Nagpur-Gondia bus (MH-14/BT 5018).

As the bus reached Gondia, the conductor Dharmik noticed black coloured bag lying unclaimed in the luggage cabin. Dharmik deposited the bag at Bus Depot after coming to Nagpur. The Depot Manager S B Shirsath opened the bag in the presence of other employees and found gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7.4 lakh. Shirsath kept the bag in safe box of the depot. Ganeshpeth police performed panchnama and seized the bag containing 157 grams of gold and 7 kg of silver ornaments collectively worth Rs 7.4 lakh.
