Election for new Vice-President of India to be held on August 6

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced election for the new Vice President of India will be held on August 6. The counting of votes will be held on the same day if required.

Schedule of the 16th Vice Presidential election: Issue of Election Commission’s notification calling the election- July 5

Last date of making nominations- July 19
Date for the Scrutiny of nominations- July 20
Last date for the withdrawal of candidatures – July 22
Date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken- August 6
Hours of poll- 10 am to 5 pm
Date on which counting, if required, shall be taken- August 6.

The notification for the election will be issued on July 5 and the last date for filing of nomination papers will be July 19.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on July 20 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 22.
