Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti : Celebration at Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur
The preparations for the Ambedkar Jayanti festival, which will be celebrated on April 14, have risen sharply. This year The main event will be held on 14 April at 5 pm at the Deekshabhoomi.
The birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, this time, is preparing to celebrate in a special way, giving a message of social goodwill and unity. For this, once again various organizations including Maratha, OBC, Muslim and Buddhist organizations are coming together to celebrate Babasaheb’s birth anniversary in grand form.
Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated not only in India but nearby also in all world.
Ambedkar Jayanti processions are carried out by his followers at DeekshaBhoomi in Nagpur and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai. It is a customary for senior national figures, such as the President, Prime Minister and leaders of major political parties, to pay homage at the statue of Ambedkar at the Parliament of India in New Delhi. It is celebrated throughout the world especially by Dalits who embraced Buddhism after his example. In India, large numbers of people visit local statues commemorating Ambedkar in procession with lot of fanfare.
Over 25,000 people gather every year at midnight to celebrate jayanti with cake cutting and bursting of crackers at Samvidhan Chowk. Apart from that, events are held individually by all the Buddha Vihars in the city; one of the most prominent one being at Indora, helmed by Japanese priest Bhante Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai, who will be addressing the devotees like every year at 9am at Deekshabhoomi. From around 5am, devotees will start pouring in at the sacred place.
