Nagpur: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chief Ashok Chavan has urged party workers to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party in Lok Sabha (LS) and Maharashtra elections to dethrone governments at Centre and State.
He accused BJP of be-fooling people by making tall and misleading promises. The party virtually launched its election campaign for Lok Sabha in Nagpur on Sunday while blasting the ruling dispensation for its abject failure to provide succour to common citizens.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was addressing the concluding programme of Jan Sangharsh Yatra at Police ground in Police Line Takli area.
Avinash Pande, General Secretary of AICC, Ashish Dua, In-charge Maharashtra, Vilas Muttemwar, former MP, Vijay Wadettiwar, Deputy Leader in Assembly, Nana Patole, Kisan Morcha Cell President, Sunil Kedar, MLA, Vikas Thakre, City President, Rajendra Mulak, District President, Dr Ashish Deshmukh, S Q Zama, Babanrao Taiwade, Anant Gharad, Amol Deshmukh, Ramkishan Ojha, Umakant Agnihotri, Abijit Wanjari, Atul Londhe, Atul Kotecha, and other were present on the dais.
Launching frontal attack against Bharatiya Janata Party led Governments, Chavan said, defeat of BJP in three states- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh- has ignited hope in the hearts of party workers that now the change is inevitable at Maharashtra and Centre. He urged party workers to conduct ‘Surgical strike’ against BJP led Government to dethrone them. He alleged that Central Government has failed to fulfill the tall promises made to the people in last four years.
Remembering the contribution of people of Vidarbha in reviving the party during Indira Gandhi’s period, Chavan said, the people of Vidarbha will again support party to regain power in State and Centre.
