Nagpur : Preparations for the two-day national convention of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Scheduled Caste Cell to be held in city from January 19, are in final leg. The two-day meet will be held at Deshpande Hall.
About 4,000 party activists including couple of Union Ministers, over 40 Members of Parliament (MP), 150 legislators, Mayors, corporators, from across the country will converge for the national meet, stated Sudhakar Kohale, MLA, and President, BJP, Nagpur city unit. He was addressing a press conference at Patrakar Club on Thursday.
Kohale said, all arrangements are almost done and national executive of Scheduled Caste Cell will be meeting at MLA Hostel on Friday at 5 pm ahead of the two-day convention to be chaired by Vinod Sonarkar, MP, National President of the cell. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the meet on January 19 at 12 noon. Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Thewarchand Gehlot, Krishna Raj, and party’s General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav will also be present at the meet. On January 20, ‘Vijayi Sankalp Sabha 2019’ will be held at Kasturchand Park at 3 pm. Chief Minister Fadnavis, Nitin Gadkari and other national leaders of BJP will address the public meet, he added.
BJP city unit has constituted several sub-committees for the two-day meet. The inauguration function will be held at Deshpande Hall campus where a big dome has been erected. Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and his cabinet colleague Rajkumar Badole are named as Chairman of Reception Committee.
Other local leaders also have been entrusted work for the meet, including accommodation, receiving of guests etc. Former Mayor Pravin Datke has been entrusted responsibility of the public meet scheduled on January 20. BJP SC Cell Vice-President Ashok Mendhe, Adv Dharampal Meshram, corporator, Dayashankar Tiwari and others also were present at the press conference.
