It’s celebration time for the Kapoors and the Bhatts as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt who tied the knot in April this year are expecting their first baby. Earlier today, Alia shared the happy news of her pregnancy on social media with a picture of ultrasound from the hospital. “Our baby ….. coming soon,” read her caption.
Alia’s dad Mahesh Bhatt spoke to ETimes and expressed his joy over the new addition to the family. “Ah, my baby is going to have a baby! I am so happy for Ranbir and Alia. May our ‘tribe’ increase. And now I have to prepare for the most important role of my life: The role of a Grandfather. This is going to be a grand debut,” he said.
The happy news of Alia’s pregnancy comes just over two months after the couple tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony at their Bandra home in a private ceremony on April 14.
Earlier last week, Ranbir hinted at a baby on its way during the promotions ‘Shamshera’ promotions. When quizzed about how much more work he will do post-marriage, he said that he has to make a family and will also have the chance to do lots of work. “Abhi mujhe bahot kaam karna hai sir. Abhi mujhe family banani hai, unke liye kaam karna hai. Pehle mai khudke liye kaam karraha tha. Nahi nahi, abhi mai bahot kaam karunga,” he said.
Speaking about his life after marriage, Ranbir further said, “I used to say in films that ‘shaadi is like dal chaawal till you die and life mein thoda tangdi kebab, hakka noodles hona chahiye’. But boss, zindagi ke tajurbe ke baad I would say dal chaawal hi best hai. Alia mere dal chaawal mein tadka hai, achaar hai, pyaaz hai, sab kuch hai. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner.”
Ranbir also revealed that Alia and he will soon head out for a quiet holiday before they kick off the ‘Brahmastra’ promotions.
