India won its fourth medal of the 2018 Asian Games as 19-year old Lakshay shot silver in the Men’s Trap shooting event to make it a third medal for the shooting contingent. Veteran shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu finished an agonising fourth to miss out on a medal.
Sandhu, topped the qualification round with a score of 119 (12 in shoot-off) while Lakshay was fourth with a score of 119 (0 in shoot-off). The competition was intense but both Indian shooters made it through to the final from the shootoff.
Lakshay made a great start to the final as he shot 14 out of his 15 targets in the first round, while Manavjit Singh Sandhu missed three targets to finish the first set with a score of 11 out of 15.
Indian sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who had won an Olympic silver medal in Men’s double trap, congratulated the youngster on twitter.

The gold medal was won by Chinese Taipei’s Kunpi Yang, who shot 48 out of 50 targets while Lakshay managed to hit 43 targets.
