NAGPUR: After successfully conducting 21-km run for amateur athletes for three years in a row, Adventures and Mahametro have decided to take a step forward and organise a 42-km full marathon in the city. Titled the Maha Metro Nagpur Marathon, it will be held on November 25.
“After a good response to all the three previous events and to fulfill the demand of runners across the country, we have planned to introduce the full marathon this year,” race director Mitesh Rambhia informed on Tuesday.
With the introduction of a 42-km run, races in four different categories will be conducted in the fourth edition of Nagpur Marathon. While international athletes from Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and professional runners from across the country are expected to participate in the full marathon, amateur running enthusiasts will take part in the 21-km Orange City Run.
The full marathon for men and women will be organised n two different age categories and the 21-km half marathon will be staged in four different age groups. Like every year, a 10-km endurance run and a 5-km fun run and walk will also be conducted for young runners, including families and corporates, in different age categories.
“The marathon relay will be held for police department and corporate houses. A team of four runners will be allowed to participate in the relay over 21 km, This year, a unique concept of a Team Marathon will be introduced.” Rambhia said.
