Nagpur: Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies & Research (DAIMSR), one of the premier management institutes of central India, continued its three decade long tradition by organizing the Installation Programme for its 32nd MBA batch (2018-20) on 03rd Aug. 2018 at Dr. Babasahab Ambedkar Auditorium, Deekshabhoomi.
The director of the institute, Dr. Sudhir Fulzele formally installed the batch and during his address said, “MBA is not yet another degree course, and it’s a two (2) year full time professional course, aimed at developing, grooming and making students as either corporate leaders or entrepreneurs in today’s world”. He further said, “We at DAIMSR believe in discipline, determination and development! We make sure that each student attends regularly, participates in all activities and is mentored by our expert faculties. At the same time we make sure that each student gets an opportunity for good placement and if he is interested, support for starting his own business venture.” He further counselled the students stating, “Mentoring and activities are the back bone of DAIMSR, therefore, be regular and participate enthusiastically in all the mentoring, events and activities of DAIMSR”.
After the formal installation function, students got a chance to interact with their Mentors. The Mentors act as guides for the holistic development of their students during these two years.
Students in Management institutes come from various disciplines of Engineering, Pharmaceuticals, Science, Arts and Commerce. Therefore, it becomes essential to conduct the basic introduction class of subjects like Accounting, Research & Quantitative Techniques, and Business Laws. A Special session on basic etiquettes, personality development and grooming was also kept to prepare them for this professional course. The classes were combined with fun-filled management games, and a treasure hunt, which sent the students on an expedition across the entire campus.
A special Senior-Junior interaction was kept with an intention to give juniors a free atmosphere of learning and development, guidance and bonding with their friends (seniors). The seniors introduced them to the various activities and events, process, rules and discipline of the college. This gives them an opportunity to develop themselves as mentors and leaders of their juniors.
To make the final day i.e. Saturday, 04th Aug. 2018 (9:30-3:00) as memorable and exciting as possible, unique sports activities are planned outdoors at the cricket ground of Dr. Ambedkar College & cultural activities at seminar Hall of DAIMSR (West Campus). As per their class sections, the students are divided into – Ajanta (Red), Nalanda (Blue), Patliputra (Green) and Sanchi (Black), even faculties dress themselves as per their class codes.
“The day will be marked by some unique sports & cultural activities where the students will get an opportunity to display their innate talents and also learn about the skill sets which is expected from a budding manager in the professional world to be acquired during the course of the programme”, conveyed the programme co-ordinator, Prof. Hemant Deshmukh.
The outdoor sports activities include Australian Rafting, Magic Bricks, Tug of War, whereas Singing and Dancing are kept in cultural activities. And at the end, to encourage the best players among the students, certificates & prizes will be given in the various categories of Best Leader (Male, Female), Best Team-Player (Male, Female) and Best Live Wire Player (Male, Female) and a trophy will be given to Best Class for active participation and winning.
