Google has brought quite a few changes in its Gmail, not just by introducing new features at the Google IO 2018 conference but by redesigning it as well.
One of the new features that is said to have arrived as a part of the Gmail redesign that was rolled out few days before the onset of the IO 2018 conference, is the @ mention feature inside the email body.
The feature apparently came with the major redesign ahead of IO 2018 developer’s conference.
As a part of this, a user can tag a person inside the email body by typing @name or +name (for Google+). Typing the @name will show a dropdown of suggested contacts inside the body. Select them to add them in the recipient list. Their names will be shown as highlighted inside the body.
This is not just easier but also saves some amount of time in going back to the email recipient section and typing the name or the email ID. This particular feature is not there yet for Gmail’s Android or iOS client and can only be used in the web interface.
Gmail has received a lot of useful AI-based features recently. The newest one to join the service is the ‘Nudge’ feature that reminds you about a mail after the given point. The new ‘Nudge’ feature in Gmail lets you set a particular time and date when a particular mail will show up again in the inbox. This is powered by artificial intelligence.
It has been added that the camera will be continuously be checking for your new email. The feature is visible on the top right corner and brings the particular mail on top of your inbox. The feature will be turned on by default but it can also be switched off manually. This can be done by going through the Gmail Settings.
