Virat Kohli earned the right to wear the Orange Cap as he become the batsman with most runs in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) so far. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Kohli scored 92 not out against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday night.
Kohli, who has played for RCB in every season of the competition, achieved the mark in his 153rd IPL match. Kohli has now scored 4619 runs with 4 centuries and 32 half-centuries. He averages an impressive 38.17 with a strike rate of 130.33 in the league.

Virat Kohli-led RCB locked horns against defending champions Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Simply he can be described as- ‘He came, He saw, He conquered’.
With his exceptional technically sound batting, he has conquered all three formats of cricket and is touted as Sachin Tendulkar of 21st century. With 164 sixes and a whopping 399 fours, he is a deadly run machine which he had scored in just 153 matches. The 11th season of IPL could prove to be a record breaker season for him as he is at the third spot in ‘most sixes hit’ list. The only two batsmen above him are Raina and Rohit Sharma.
However, although he played a blistering 92-runs knock, Kolhi could not lead his team to victory. RCB lost to MI by 46 runs.
Kohli and Raina are the only two players to have scored 4,500 runs or more in the IPL. Rohit Sharma is number three in list with 4,345 runs in the competition. Following Sharma are Gautam Gambhir, David Warner, Robin Uthappa, Shikhar Dhawan, Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers.
