Key interventions :
Rural support for drought Maharashtra’s drought-prone areas suffer from reduced rainfall and declining groundwater, worsened by climate change. To address this, Parivartan has launched a Natural Resource Management (NRM) program in several districts, creating over 1,460 soil and water conservation structures such as canals, earthen dams, and check dams to help preserve groundwater and support farmers.
Parivartan, in collaboration with its implementation partners, conducted awareness sessions covering key topics such as soil and water conservation, government schemes and services, water accounting practices, and water budgeting. Additionally, the Bank provided education to villagers on water-borne diseases and preventive measures, addressing concerns as many residents relied on water from tanks. Holistic Rural Development Programme at 12 villages Under its Holistic Rural Development Programme, HDFC Bank Parivartan, in partnership with Cohesion Foundation Trust, is implementing this initiative in 12 villages in the Tuljapur block, benefitting 18,000+ individuals across 4,000 households.
This initiative includes:
• Installation of solar streetlights
• Promotion of organic multiple cropping
• Rejuvenation of storage and irrigation systems
• Development of Osmanabadi goat and backyard poultry projects
The program will also include exposure visits, construction of 14 check dams, and support for the Tuljai Mahila Goat & Poultry Producer Co. to enhance farmer incomes, empower women, and foster overall village development.
