Datta Meghe Medical College Hosts 45th Annual Mapcon Conference: Over 600 Delegates and Experts Convene for Oncopathology Insights at Mapcon 2024.

The highly anticipated 45th Annual Conference of the Maharashtra Chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (MAPCON 2024) is set to take place at Datta Meghe Medical College, Nagpur. The theme for this year’s conference is “Oncopathology: Pathways to Precision Healing,” and it will be accompanied by two pre-conference CMEs:

CME 1: Micro Insights: Navigating the Landscape of Small Biopsy in Pathology

CME 2: Current Trends and Haematological Insights.

The Department of Pathology from both Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) Sawangi (M), Wardha, and Datta Meghe Medical College (DMMC) Nagpur, constituent units of DMIHER Wardha, are organizing the event, scheduled from September 27th to 29th, 2024, at Datta Meghe Medical College, Nagpur.

On September 27th, pre-conference events will include the CMEs, along with a Seminar on the Launching of the Postdoctoral Program in Oncopathology. The conference will be officially inaugurated on September 28th by Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Hon. Chief Advisor, DMIHER, alongside Dr. Lalitbhushan Waghmare, Hon. Vice Chancellor, DMIHER, Dr. Aruna Vanikar, Former President, UGMEB, NMC, New Delhi, and Dr. Vinky Rughwani, Administrator, MMC. Senior University authorities and the Chairpersons of the Maharashtra Chapter-IAPM will also be in attendance.

Throughout the pre-conference and the main event, there will be scientific deliberations by a distinguished panel of experts in oncopathology, small group discussions, and research paper and poster presentations by postgraduate students from various medical colleges across Maharashtra and beyond.

The conference will host over 600 delegates, 30 speakers, and feature 225 presentations in the form of papers and posters. The Maharashtra Medical Council has granted 2 Credit Points for each CME and 4 Credit Points for the main conference. The CME on “Micro Insights” is sponsored by the National Academy of Medical Sciences, while the Science and Engineering Research Board has supported travel and printing expenses for MAPCON 2024.

In announcing the event, Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, DMIHER, stated, “This conference is a testament to the transformative journey of medical science, particularly in pathology, which plays a crucial role in diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. As diseases evolve, so must the role of pathologists. The discussions here will serve as a fertile ground for innovation and growth, laying the foundation for future breakthroughs in healthcare.”

Dr.Sweta Pisulkar, Registrar, DMIHER, highlighted, “This conference provides a pivotal platform to advance pathology, especially in hematopathology and oncology. As we embrace a new era of diagnostics, interdisciplinary collaboration will shape the future of pathology and contribute to better patient care.”

Dr. Sunita Wagha, Chairperson of the conference , remarked, “We take immense pride in hosting this significant event. From molecular diagnostics to the role of AI, this conference addresses both current and future trends in pathology, preparing the next generation to integrate cutting-edge technologies into routine practice.”

Dr.Pratibha Dawande, Co- Chairperson of the conference, added, “The theme of this year’s conference is crucial for the future of pathology, especially in hematology, oncology, and diagnostic technologies. We hope that participants leave inspired to implement these advancements in their work, ultimately enhancing healthcare delivery.”

Dr. Anup Marar, Director, DMIHER Off-Campus, emphasized that the founders of DMIHER envisioned medical conferences being held in educational institutions rather than hotels to foster an academic environment. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Hon. Shri. Dattaji Meghe, Chancellor, and Shri. Sagarji Meghe, DMMC has developed state-of-the-art infrastructure, including auditoriums, lecture halls, and exemplary hospitality services, making it an ideal venue for future medical conferences. He encouraged other associations to utilize DMMC’s facilities, which also boost student morale.

Union Textiles Minister Shri Giriraj Singh, accompanied by Dr. Vikas Mahatme, who was on a courtesy visit to Datta Meghe Medical College to witness firsthand the exemplary infrastructure developed by DMIHER at the Wanadongri Campus. Impressed by the novel approach to holistic care for the poor and needy integrating Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, and Pharmacovigilance to offer the best treatment modalities he praised the institution’s efforts. Shri Giriraj Singh also blessed the ongoing conference and commended Shri Datta Meghe and Shri Sagar Meghe for creating such an innovative infrastructure to host major conferences, an alternative to hotels. Dr. Vikas Mahatme highlighted that more associations will likely utilize this cost-effective venue, promoting research in the academic atmosphere of a medical college.

Prominent figures present during the press conference included Dr. Ujwal Gajbe, Dean, DMMC, Dr. Praveen Gadkari, Organizing Secretary, along with Dr. Brij Singh, Vice Dean, DMMC, Dr. Obaid Noman, and Dr. Sanjay Deotale, Joint Organizing Secretaries and Dr. Milind Pande, Treasurer.
