RRR, SS Rajamouli’s masterpiece, never ceases to astound Western reviewers and viewers. The blockbuster has now started its promotion at the award ceremonies.
The movie took home the best international feature prize at the 50th Saturn Awards on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
The honours, which recognise works of genre literature, are regarded as the start of the Oscars’ road to the big event, which will take place the following year.
The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films awards science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other genre fiction in movies, TV shows, and streaming services with the Saturn Award.
RRR won the prize for the best foreign film at the 2022 awards on Tuesday night, defeating films such Downton Abbey: A New Era, Eiffel, I’m Your Man, Riders of Justice, and Silent Night.
In order to promote RRR, director SS Rajamouli provided a video acceptance speech from Japan.
“I am overjoyed that our movie RRR took home the Saturn Award for best foreign film. On behalf of our entire team, I thank the jury. We are overjoyed, he declared.
RRR is currently the second Indian movie to receive this honour. Rajamouli, who also directed the first, made a point of mentioning this in his video greeting. “This is the second Saturn Award for my movie,” he continued.
I initially took home a prize for Baahubali: The Conlusion. I wish I could be there in person, but I’m sorry I have prior obligations related to the release of RRR in Japan.
RRR received nominations for both best action/adventure picture and best film director. In the first, Matt Reeves, who won for The Batman, defeated SS Rajamouli.
The film RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, is a fictionalised portrayal of the early lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two Indian rebels.
With a global gross of over 1100 crore and climbing, the movie is one of the most popular Indian films of all time. As a result of its favourable reviews in the US, it has also been nominated for an Oscar.
