Nagpur Musical Fountain At Futala Lake Starts From Aug 15

The test of the light-and-sound show took place on Friday, in with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Nagpur Natural beauty of the famous Futala Lake in Nagpur will become vibrant starting on August 15.The government and the companies who are working on the Futala beautification plan are working hard to ensure that the project is dedicated to the public on Independence Day. The musical fountain within the Lake will recount the past of Nagpur.

The narration for the light and sound program on Nagpur’s past is recorded in the voice of the legendary performer Amitabh Bachchan (English), the eminent lyricist and director Gulzar (Hindi) and veteran actor Nana Patekar (Marathi).

A 4000-seat gallery will be built close to Futala Lake to enjoy the fountain. A 12-storey food-plaza will be constructed close to Futala which will have parking for 1100 vehicles, Union Roads Minister Nitin Gadkari told reporters. He was speaking at the first trial display that was part of Futala’s Futala Musical Fountain and Light-Show project, which was conceived by Union Minister and improving Nagpur’s beauty. The light-and-sound trial began with the music invigorating the air. The show was followed by a vibrant fountain, the fog wall and the bursts that were snuffed out by fireworks. Noted actress-singer-director Revathi briefed Gadkari about the music part of the entire show.

According to the officials that were present at the event it is planned for the project to be dedicated to the public on the 15th of August. The lighting and installation of hardware is complete and is currently underway to create sync of the water blasts in tune with music. The programming will take place each night starting July 4. The musical fountain at Futala Lake is believed to be the highest water fountain on earth. The moment the show begins Nagpur’s past will be projected onto the screen created by the mist that flows from the fountain. The music was composed by the music maestro A R Rehman, and the sound design was created by Oscar Award winner Resul Pookutty.

Each show will be of 34-minutes duration. During his visit to Futala on Friday, Gadkari told mediapersons that an amount of Rs 30 crore was released from Central Road Fund to Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth for development of garden on the university’s land near Futala. The fountain hardware’s spread is 180 metres. There will be seating arrangement for 4,000 viewers in the gallery, behind which there will be a 12-storeyed building hosting food plaza, mall, multiplex, revolving restaurant etc.
