Nagpur: Petrol and diesel prices were hiked on Monday by 40 paise a litre, taking the overall increase in the last two weeks to Rs 8.40. This was the 12th increase in the fuel prices by the state-owned fuel retailers in two weeks.
Earlier on Sunday, the oil rates were increased by 80 paise a litre each.
With the Monday’s hike, petrol and diesel prices will be Rs 118.47 per litre and Rs 101.22 per litre respectively in Nagpur.
After the Assembly election results in five states last month, petrol and diesel prices in the country have been on the rise amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war that has raised crude oil prices to a seven-year high. The fuel prices were on a freeze since November 4 last year, when the Centre cut the Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 to allow some relief to the common man.
In all, petrol and diesel prices have gone up by Rs 8.40 per litre each in two weeks.
