India vs South Africa: The remaining two matches of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa have been postponed. The first match was played on 12 March at Dharamshala, which was washed away in the rain. The remaining two matches were to be played in Lucknow and Kolkata. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) to 15 April in view of the growing threat of coronavirus. The BCCI said that the South African team will again visit India for this series.
The BCCI said that the two boards together will decide on the date of this series. The coronavirus has also been declared an epidemic by the World Health Organization. Due to this, many sports tournaments across the world have been canceled so far. The BCCI official said, “The IPL has been postponed and at the moment it is prudent to postpone the series as well.” The country is facing a severe epidemic. ‘ The first ODI in Dharamsala between India and South Africa teams was rained down. Both teams reached Lucknow on Friday.
The official said, “The South African team will come to Delhi and fly home with the earliest available flight.” Due to government guidelines, it was decided to have these matches in empty stadiums earlier. The government had decided to keep sports events closed to spectators due to the epidemic. The IPL also will not start from March 29. He has been suspended till April 15. So far, 81 cases of coronavirus have been found in India, while the number of such cases has exceeded one lakh worldwide. Globally, more than 5000 people have died due to this deadly virus.
